“Great little place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2011

After reading some of the reviews on this site, I felt compelled to write a review myself. I think that the people complaining about this place must have been expecting a 5 star, Hiltonesque palace of wonder and obviously were just looking for things to complain about.

Myself and 2 friends arrived on Saturday afternoon on what was an amazingly sunny day and upon check in were offered a seat in the cosy bar area whilst we waited for our room to be ready (we had arrived slightly earlier than the suggested check in time).

When we arrived at our room (22) we were greeted with comfy, clean beds and a great view of the sea (complete with view of the pier). Some people have complained that they have to lean out of the window and look down the street, but this is an extreme overreaction. I was able to lay on my bed and still have a great view out of the bay window, down the street towards the sea. The view of the neighbouring park area was a nice little bonus as well.

We also had a nice selection of teas and coffees as well as some shortbread biscuits laid out for us.

Thoughtfully labelled with a 'sliding door' plaque was the door which led us to our en suite bathroom. Unlike some reviews on here would make you believe, there was more than enough leg room for anyone using the toilet and we even managed to fit all 3 of us in the shower.

After a great night out enjoying the local bars, we arrived back at our hotel. Again, I'm not sure what noise some of the other reviews on here are talking about, but it was nicely quiet when we got back to our rooms and we managed to fall asleep peacefully.

The breakfast that was offered was great. The tea/coffee was brilliant and the vegetarian breakfast option chosen by my friend went down a treat. After breakfast, we headed back to our room for our final hours stay before check out, just enjoying the comfort of our room with a (great) view.

As we weren't due to leave Brighton for a few more hours, we were able to leave our bags for collection later and were able to enjoy a second brilliantly sunny day by the sea.

We would definitely stay here again as it was a great place to stay and had a great location.

Room Tip: Room 22 was great!

Glad you liked the breakfast, it's very popular and we do our best to source the best ingredients. I'm sure the misunderstanding with the waitress is easy enough to remedy, and of course we would have been happy to change your brekky if you'd raised this at the time.

We do take your concerns seriously, and if you want to tell us more, just get in touch.

Too expensive for what it has to offer: shabby, tired and pretty dirty (not disgusting, but very dusty and spotty), breakfast eatable but really is so-so, mismatched firniture, tiny TV with 2 channels, no internet, tiny and mouldy bathroom, could hear people from upstairs like they were sitting in my room...etc etc

All in all pretty dissapointed that i spent so much money on smth that looked like travellodge, wish i read reviews on here before i booked.

On a plus side great location, clean sheets and towels, good view from the window

Stayed here recently, very dismal ,tierd, tatty hotel, had no room key,we were given a double on the ground floor,by main entrance, very noisy, could not sees sea, supposed to be a sea view room, bathroom extremely small, basically a broom cupboard.tatty and tierd furniture, dodgy lamps and shades, cleaner left door open after cleaning it,anyone could of walked in and stolen anything, very unsafe, had to keep closing curtains at all times, blinds missing, made it very depressing. Very overpriced,we paid over £100 per night, better quality and cheaper to be had in Brighton, just trading on it's location, the only good thing is the good produce used for breakfast, but this does not warrant the price, strongly recommend you stay elsewhere.

Terrible parking straight off,had to park 3 streets away. Got inside, looked around and thought "hopefully the rooms will be nicer" but was terribly disappointed. Stank of cigerettes, unclean apart from the bedding,VERY grotty and old fixtures and fitting, broken windows catches, broken bedside unit.... I could go on and on but hopefully your getting the idea,I am just grateful I didn't take my two year old with us! They do a nice breakfast though but not worth staying just for that...
