This was our first stay in a Du Vin hotel and overall we were pretty happy with the standard.

The reception area was a little crowded with a lot of suit cases but the staff were quite friendly and efficient.

The only negative comment I would make it would be the piles of towels and cleaning equipment scattered outside the rooms and on the stairs/landings.

Our room/suite was very nicely decorated and a good size. We loved the large free standing bath plus the double showers. I wasn't so keen on the glass wall separating the bedroom and bathroom as you could see exactly what your partner is up to in the bathroom!!

We didn't eat in the bistro mainly because the menu didn't appeal to us and we skipped breakfast as we were told by a friend who lives in Brighton the best place to go for breakfast is Bills Produce Store, which I would also highly recommend.

Room Tip: We stayed in a junior suite called the Arunde which was very nice and would recommend booking - from the bath in the bay window you could see the sea (just!)!!

Put my visiting sister up here. For the price the room was disappointingly small and didn't compare to the lovely looking rooms in the website - be very careful about the exact room you get. Especially if you want the 'freestanding bath' -make sure it is really the picture you are looking at.

Staff courteous and helpful, location excellent but a generally a bit overrated.

Overall I have found other hotels in Brighton such as Una and Drakes offer better value for this kind of money.

Sadly Hotel du Vin in Brighton is a big disappointment mostly due to the poor restaurant. The hotel still has the usual du Vin original decor, which is very nice but the service and the quality of food in the restaurant was not good, which was a big surprise as usually Hotel du Vin's food is great. Nice venue for evening drink in bar or in roof garden, but until the restaurant standards are improved probably worth eating elsewhere!

Room Tip: ask to see the room first as some are very small and badly positioned. noisy in mornings and night if on street side.

My husband and I stayed here at the end of March for a much needed break. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist and although we arrived early and asked if we could leave our bag she kindly said that if we wanted to we could use our room now which was great as it was about 2 hrs before normal check in time. Our room had a small terrace and it was a lovely open space for those who either wanted to smoke or just some fresh air. The only reason we didn't use it was we didn't spend that long in our room as the weather was so lovely we wanted to be out and about. The king size bed was huge and there was an espresso coffee maker and a good selection of teas and a well stocked mini bar. Hair dryer was good and powerful and although we didn't use it there was an ironing board and iron. Plenty of space to hang clothes and lots of built in shelves. The bathroom was the piece de resistance it was huge with a free standing bath and a large walk in monsoon style shower with stainless steel shower tray. The toiletries were of good quality they even provide cotton buds. All of the staff we came across were very helpful and friendly especially those who were working on the reception. We didn't eat in the hotel as we preferred to go out on the town and we didn't have breakfast there so cannot comment on the food but if it is as good as everything else I am sure it was exceptional I would definitely stay again

A last minute break to Brighton was just what we needed and thanks to friends in high places we got to go to Hotel du Vin for a very reasonable price.
A warm greeting on arrival was a sign of things to come. Our room wasn't quite ready, so were were offered lunch in the restaurant, but we chose to go to a lovely little fish place that we'd been told about (another review to come on that one!)
Upon return, we were told that we'd been upgraded to a junior suite, what a result!
The suite itself was just stunning. A bath in the bay window and shower with two watering can heads.
After a day of pottering around the lanes we didn't feel like leaving the hotel for dinner, so we headed to the Pub du Vin. With a fabulous array of Bath Ales and extensive wine list, it was just the ticket. I chose a British sparkling wine, divine! The fish cake was fantastic and service attentive yet relaxed.
Breakfast the following morning was an unexpected pleasure, a huge choice of the normal fare, all executed to the highest standard.
We've stayed at various places in Brighton, but cannot wait to return to the Hotel du Vin.
