The Queensbury's main strength is its location - Regency Square is opposite the i360 and the remains of the West Pier, which makes it a good option. The staff are efficient, the service is good and the rooms are clean.

That's it, really.

Whether everything else is negative or to be expected depends on how much hotel you are expecting for your cash, and the Queensbury is cheap compared to many.

Breakfast is "continental," i.e. cereals, juices, toast, some croissants, meats and cheese. Nothing hot, apart from the tea and coffee, as this hotel doesn't have a functioning commercial kitchen. Not good enough? Buy vouchers at reception for the Regency Restaurant opposite on the seafront for £5 each and get a proper good breakfast. Or, like us, eat breakfast, then toddle off into town for a Hobbit-sized second breakfast.

Parking? Regency Square has its own underground carpark at £18 per day for the wedged, but there is another private parking arrangement to be had at a much cheaper rate - we used it and it worked well. Contact reception for details.

The room. Clean, tidy, stuff changed regularly. That's it, really. The picky traveller would find fault with the cosmetic blemishes, contract carpet, Creakmaster 5000 bed and micro-ensuite, but it's all there. Stay on a Friday or Saturday night and you'll hear everyone else coming in to their rooms as well.

My wife didn't think much of it but it was OK. Just manage your expectations and it will be good enough for most.

Stayed at The Queensbury Hotel for 2 nights (2nd-3rd Feb) in the triple room and what a comfortable stay it was. Hosts very pleasant and the location is fantastic. Yes basic but considering what we paid we definitely got a fabulous deal. Continental breakfast was efficient but can also opt for a full English at a nearby cafe for £5 which the hotel will arrange for you. We will certainly be back again soon as our son is at uni down there.

Stayed at The Queensberry for two nights whilst on a visit to Brighton. It is a standard hotel no frills. It was ideal for what I wanted as somewhere to stay and is in a great location right near to the seafront and the British Airways i360. Only a short walk into town. Breakfast was OK no cooked option, but cereals, juice, unlimited coffee, toast, croissants and fruit. I would come back to this hotel as it was very reasonable price wise and the bed and room was comfortable also.

We had a family basement room with three beds for a night just after New Year. The hotel was central, clean, comfortable, affordable and very quiet. The staff went out of their way to help. We'd go back next time.

My partner booked a room as a birthday treat. It was a convenient place to stay, as the rest of my birthday activities were in Brighton. Sitting on Regency Square, the view was lovely and the room was very clean. Only criticism would be the excessive amount of signage in the bathroom, and the small size of the bathroom. Would stay again, as it was very reasonable and perfect for what we wanted.
