Went there with friends this week. Gorgeous tasting menu, some really unusual dishes and in a really cool coach house in the Brunswick area of Hove. Gorgeous amuse bouches (one that stood out was crisp chicken skins with coriander and lemon grass , followed by a delicious King Crab dish, quail with honey and pear, seriously melt in the mouth cod with chorizo and samphire, yummy meso beef with wasabi ,apple, balsamic, then a dark chocolate and Yuzu sphere. PLEASE do another one soon Mark!

Great 6 course tasting menu, if only you could find a permanent home I am sure you would create a great following and fan base. £45 per head is great value especially when you bring your own wines. The food is delicately made, delightful in taste and service was friendly. We ended up finishing the desert wine with the team there and listened to their story so far. I wish them well.

My daughter was over from Dubai and went back a second time with her friends, it was just as good.

Truthfully it was a gnats whisker away from being excellent but better than very good.
The service was just fantastic as were some of the food elements - it just needed a little extra in the way of food .Maybe if the "cheese with port " had been big enough to see we would have felt more fed.
Some might think that £45 is a bit much but with no profit from drinks its hard to see how Alex & Mark could do it for less
The lamb and pork mains were sensational.
I stongly recomend a visit whilst you can

Beautifully presented, intricately constructed, Mark's dishes are little assemblies of perfection. The combinations of ingredients, to this diner at least, are startlingly original without being pretentious, all having their place, all harmonising to stunning effect. But despite the small scale and (conversely) complexity of the dishes, the individual ingredients always shine through and sing on the tongue.

Textures marry flavours. The cider braised pork, for example, had the thinnest of crackling skins, and sat amid a tiny field of complementary sauces. But I can't write like Marina O'Loughlin so won't bang on about individual dishes. Just go. It's excellent value and the BYOB policy makes the experience a snip.

If I'd been told beforehand this was a two or three star Michelin joint I wouldn't have come away disappointed. I've been lucky to eat at some great restaurants – El Bulli, Fat Duck in its pomp, the extraordinary Astrid & Gaston in Lima – and it's not over the top to include Maw in that list of memorables.

It would be fantastic if Mark could establish a permanent base here. I fear we Brightonians may not be prepared to pay the prices he should be charging, but if he finds a home in London (or anywhere else) I for one will be following.

Girlfriend and I visited after a recommendation. Lovely warm atmosphere and even lovelier hosts to match. Very talkative and welcoming. Had a lovely relaxed meal and left feeling very satisfied.

The food in my opinion is irrelevant to the actual enjoyment of the evening, but for the sake of the review everything was absolutely delicious. Varied flavour, texture and style; all beautifully plated. Be warned though very rich and on the salty side. Lucky I'm a sucker for just that.

Will be returning with the Mother ASAP!
