I booked this as a special treat for my parents, and I was upset to hear their feedback on the lunch and their experience. Presentation of meals was lovely, but food was not to Michelin standard! Fish overcooked, and some flavours did not work together; pureed red cabbage with mustard ice cream wasn't even edible. Food was also served cold/warm - not hot as you would expect. Restaurant space lacked atmosphere with no lights on. Wine was good quality, but overall unfortunately cannot recommend.

Roots Restaurant in Southbourne has been one of my favourite restaurants since they opened nine years ago. It’s fine dining at its best, offering a choice of the Classic Menu or the Discovery Menu that includes a glass of Champagne or English Sparkling Wine.

You don’t go here for dinner you go for a taste experience!

Book for a special occasion or buy vouchers for Christmas presents you won’t be disappointed.

Our first visit to Restaurant Roots.
We were blown away with the combination of flavours, the wonderful food, the presentation of the dishes and the whole tasting menu experience.
A warm welcome was followed by attentive service, wonderful wine suggestions & totally sublime food.
Our lunch was excellent value and a return visit has already been booked.

I would give this restaurant 6 stars if I could. The most wonderful experience all round - faultless service, food, drinks and atmosphere. I would highly recommend Roots to anyone looking for a wonderful meal out. This place is special enough to feel like once in a while treat/occasion, but welcoming enough to feel like you’re going to your local neighbourhood restaurant. Perfection all round. Thanks so much, we can’t wait to come back!!!

Excellent food (of course). Service was informative but not pompous or fussy, waiter was very happy to mix and match the menus, offer wine suggestions, etc. Spent 3.5 hours there but it didn’t feel like it: the pace of service was perfect. A great evening out.
