Firstly, I must say that the photos of this house do not do it justice, it is more lovely than we imagined. Each room has been decorated and set up like a boutique hotel room with nice little touches and the beds are very comfortable. The house was also spotless when we arrived. The kitchen was great with a large range oven with a great variety of kitchen equipment. Disco lights in the downstairs loo also made us smile a lot.
Clancy (the owner) called before arrival to explain how to get in to the house and also with some local recommendations of places to go, she was very friendly and very helpful.
The house is only a short walk from the town centre. The quickest way is down a set of steps at the bottom of the road (180 steps, going down was fine and going up only took about 3 mins, there may look a lot but the kids also managed no problem). Walking to the beach and harbour only took about 15-20 mins via the town centre, which was a lovely walk.
Being my first visit to Torquay I was more than pleased, the town centre had plenty of shopping opportunities with lots of bars and restaurants.
The Torquay seafront area was beautiful, I really liked the gardens by the Pavilion, the large array of boats in the harbour and the beach was great, very shallow, with calm water which meant loads of fun paddling with the kids.
Near the Marina, the living coast was also a good find, especially with kids (ours are 12 and 8). We weren’t sure about it when we got in, but ended up staying nearly 3 hours watching the Penguins, Seals, Otters and sea birds.
I would definitely recommend this house and also Torquay as a lovely place to stay.
Gorgeous decor, very spacious with 3 levels, very cosy, wonderful ambience! My family all loved staying here over winter.
