Had a great walk from our camp site at Whiddon Down to the Fingle Bridge Inn. The pub is set in some of the most beautiful country side set right beside the river. The ale was fantastic and although we didn't eat the food being served look great. Will certainly be going back to check the food out and make sure the ale is still good

A busy pub with a lively atmosphere. Excellent menu choices and quality. Unfortunately the weather prevented us from sitting outside but it was lovely to be able to sit by the log burner after our meal and enjoy a drink.

Located right on the river and next to the pretty bridge that gives this place its name, this pub is a perfect spot for a weekend stroll in the sunshine. The food is great (Sunday roasts are divine!) but it does get quite busy so that needs to be considered - especially when the weather is good at the weekends.

There are also some really lovely walks that are dog friendly. To the right you can walk along the river and up the ridge towards Castle Drogo for some stunning views, and to the left you can explore Fingle Woods. A real Devonian gem!

This has to be the ultimate English pub, even if you do have to drive down a hairy little single track road to get there. Ample parking once you get down to the river. the pub is located right on the water, next to an ancient postern bridge over the river. They have several tables on a terrace just above the water, and many more on a patio in front of the pub. Inside, the place is cosy and welcoming. The menu was extensive and very good value. An absolute gem of a place!

With such a perfect location this inn could easily charge far more as people need rest and refreshment! But it doesn't. You pay a fair price for decent food and drink.
There are plenty of seats, plus outdoor tables for sunny days and if you have dogs. And even outdoor but under cover ones.
There's an excellent walk from here up to Castle Drogo. Up being an important descriptor!
But equally one can wander up the flatter valley.
Great place for kids and dogs.
