Stayed here for 2 nights and it was a lovely base to explore Exeter from. Our room was clean but a little tired in decor but that didn't affect our enjoyment at all. Breakfast was good with a good choice. We found staff to be mostly very friendly and helpful. We would stay again next time we were in Exeter.

Stayed here for 4 nights over Easter returning home today. The check in was seamless as we had done so on line before hand. the welcome was very friendly and helpful in giving us local info and a map .Our room was the Privelege type and very nice with a lovely Bathroom & large shower, I had an issue setting the a/c unit and asked the reception to sort it whilst we had dinner, but on investigating later it was still not putting out any heat , we noticed there was a large oil filled electric radiator in the wardrobe and put that on to het the room. the next morning we complained that the room was cold and unacceptable and we got moved immediately to another room which was cosy..

The supper the 1st night was lovely and great service to match, ,all the Breakfasts we received were excellent also. The staff here were all very good in fairness with many of them very keen to engage in discussions, the spa was excellent and like everywhere else spotlessly clean.

The hotel is very well positioned in the Historic City and we would highly recommend it for a visit.

What a nightmare.... reception staff were rude and unhelpful. The parking gate has been broken for at least 3 years now and they still haven’t bothered to fix it. Sausages taste of cardboard and eggs are slimey. The only thing going for it is the pool...

Dear 866rebecca

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your recent stay at the Hotel. I have recently taken over as manager of the Hotel, so will discuss your comments with the team to ensure that improvements are made.

I am a bit concerned about your comments about the breakfast food - we actually source the sausages from a local meat company so am disappointed that you were disappointed with our lovely Devon sausages.

I hope that we will be able to welcome you back again so that we can restore your faith in the Hotel.

Kind regards

Overall an ok stay here - a place we have been coming to for a long time so disappointed that the high standards had fallen away.

Pool was still good, breakfast excellent, location perfect. Check out staff were very good - couldn't be more helpful.

However, Rooms - tired and dirty. Watermarks, stains, grubby/dirty walls and dust. Photos attached.

I visited Exeter end march and stayed at the Mercure. A lovely hotel, very close to the cathedral and city centre. Staff were friendly, food was good. And if you have time to use the sports and spa facilities, they are great, small but very efficient. A lovely way to wind down and relax.
