We discovered Seagrass after a quick recce of St Ives following our arrival for a weeks holiday. Have to say that as fans of the TV programme, we were very much tempted by the prospect of a meal from a Master Chef professional, so booked for Sunday lunch. We were a bit wary of taking our 5 and 7 year olds to such a nice restaurant, but the staff were very warm and welcoming and happy to split a meal for them to share. We all had the Sunday Roast - Beef and very much agreed that 'Sunday dinner doesn't come much better than this'. All in all, a lovely meal in a lovely resteraunt with great service. This was our first visit to St Ives, we all fell in love with the place and will no doubt be back soon and it will include another meal at Seagrass.

We were in St Ives on Easter Sunday and came across Seagrass at lunchtime. They were advertising a very reasonably priced Sunday lunch and luckily for us they had a table available. The meal was excellent, the best beef we've ever tasted and the service was very friendly indeed. This restaurant is well worth a visit.

We ate here having seen the sign advertising Masterchef etc and opted for the set menu. The restaurant was busy and we had to book at 6pm. I opted for the mussels to start - these were a large portiion, coming with cream, bacon and onion, and were excellent. For main I had the steak, served with chips, confit tomato, and garlic sauce. The steak was only OK really; it was cooked fine, but it lacked taste and wasn't all that tender. The chips weren't brilliant, the garlic sauce OK. The best thing was the confit tomato. My sister had the mussel dish as a main - this was identical to the starter, and was pretty much the same size as the starter version; just a few more mussels, which we felt was a bit cheeky. The desserts were good - sticky toffee pudding pleasant and the creme brulee fine. The drinks weren't cheap, we had an odd herbal gin which wasn't brilliant in our Gin and tonics, next time I'll stick to Gordon's! Service was fine; had the main been up to the standards of the other two courses I would have said it was our best meal of the week; due to the steak it wasn't as good as the St Andrew's bistro.

We had a lovely evening at Seagrass - excellent food and service, and they managed to fit us in at short notice even though the restaurant was busy! Staff were friendly and very helpful, and the fixed price menu was fantastic value. We'll definitely be returning in the summer and recommending Seagrass to our friends.

We ate dinner off the a la carte menu and for the most part enjoyed our meal. Highlights were an excellent fish soup first course and we both had the deer with chocolate sauce which was delicate and delicious. A dessert of lemon possett and basil ice cream was outstanding. Service was friendly. The downsides were a goats' cheese first course that my wife found too salty and very weak cocktails. The wine list could be expanded to include some Rhone reds. All in all, we would return.

Hi thank you for your great review and glad to hear you will return! Would you tell us which cocktails you had ..? Scott fancies himself as a a bit of a Tom Cruise and if there is any improvement we can make, then we would like to know :) We are in the process of extending our wine list which should hopefully be finalised in the next few weeks - hope to see you again soon!
