Just back from a relaxing week touring North Cornwall, staying at Wheel Lodge at Higher Hendra farm. We found it to be a great base to travel around the breathtaking coast and villages of this part of Cornwall. The cottage had everything one could need to make for a peaceful and enjoyable holiday, and a cosy place to come home to after a good walk along the coast. Owners Angela and Phil make you very welcome - thank you for the delicious cake !! We cannot fault Wheel Lodge, and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
Stayed at Wheel Lodge for three nights, Thursday to Sunday and was so impressed. The accommodation far exceeded our expectations and had everything you could want or need on a break. It was like a home from home. Everything thoughtfully placed from egg cups to foil! (Was making sandwiches for a day out and thought 'there couldn't possibly be tin foil here...and there was!!) The surroundings were beautiful and it was so lovely to have the peace and quiet with nothing but the occasional 'baaaaa' from the sheep and lambs. We even got the opportunity to bottle feed some lambs which I personally love. Phill and Angela were lovely and very welcoming. Perfect break at a perfect location. Thoroughly recommend. Will definitely come back.
Me and my wife stayed here for 8 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. When we walked into the Lodge we were instantly impressed on how tastefully it was decorated, we felt at home straight away. The lodge was spotlessly clean and had everything you would need from cleaning to cooking.
Also on arrival there was a complimentry pint of milk in fridge and a packet of Cornish clotted cream shortbread...Yummy!!
The location was fab, 3 miles from Port Isaac, a little longer drive to Lovely Padstow (A must to visit) or drive to Rock and get passenger ferry across. Also Boscastle and Tintagel also within easy reach.
The nearest supermarket for large shop is Tesco at Wadebridge.
Phil, the farmer was extremely friendly and would talk to you about the farm and what is going on,he also let my wife feed a baby lamb, let us wander the farm and see everything,he also took us to another field in his wagon to show us some baby calfs.
They also has a lovely dog called Stella, extremely friendly and lovable, (my wife just loved her).
At the end of our holiday, Phil also showed us inside the other 3 properties they have as they were empty, and we were well impressed, all just so beautifully done, trust me, if you booked any one of these properties you will not be disapointed, they are just great!
(Thank you Phil and Angela for helping make our stay so enjoyable)
