There were 2 very similar restaurants in Penzance, Bosun's Locker (Now called the Boatshed) offering a good choice of good quality meals, and another that I think is sinking.

After a really bad experience at the other restaurant we went to the Boatshed and thankfully found it has carried on the tradition of the Bosun's Locker with a good menu choice at reasonable prices including a range of steaks at around £15 (well under £21) and a good set of fish choices. We had Sea Bass and Cod - both were excellent, for desert I can recommend the cooked Banana with warm Rum sauce - boy was that sauce good - just don't drive afterwards ;)

A good meal well served by pleasant staff - thank you.

Food was superb and the staff were very friendly even though they were extremely busy. Got a bit confused on paying with card and opted out of service charge (thought I did), manually gave a tip and the staff very honestly checked that I hadn't intended to add the service charge also. A very pleasant evening altogether.

A pleasant atmosphere and very friendly staff. This place has the potential to be great but was lacking a bit in drinks (serving soft drinks out of large plastic bottles isn't very good) and the food wasn't that good and was quite expensive for the quality. A few improvements to quality and a bit more attention to detail and this place would be great!

Turned up here for lunch and as we had dogs with us needed to sit outside. Noticed a large oil slick on floor under and adjacent to tables so got up and walked off.

Not really a good impression.

We stayed in Penzance for 4 days and ended up in the boatshed twice for an evening meal.

We arrived quite late for food on our first visit, and yet the staff were very accomodating. The food was excellent, and so was the atmosphere.

Contemplating our last meal before heading home, we decided that the boatshed was the place to go. We were welcomed as friends as we entered, and my 5 year old daughter was delighted that she had been remembered.

Upon asking, we were told that they had no sausages for the kids meal. However, after a short period... Lindsay (our waitress) came back with news that they had sent somebody to acquire some just for us. This was excellent service!

Again, Lindsay was great throughout the evening and my daughter even gave her a couple of hugs and told her that she loved her before we headed home.

We will definitely be dining here again, and would recommend this place to anybody.

As a side note, they were in fact very busy during our last meal. And I see many reviews on here about the wait. To confirm, we had to wait also, though it was not long enough to not be forgiven, and we were checked on constantly by the staff. When the food arrived, it was perfect, and definitely worth the wait! Do not let this put you off!
