I booked a room last minute and the bedroom had been refurbished to a high standard - only complaints would be that the corridor stunk of cigarette smoke even tho we where in a non smoking room and breakfast was all fried or microwaved. The only toast provided was white - no option of brown. For the price we paid it was ok however if they want to improve the hotel further - a smoking ban in the corridors and a higher quality breakfast is required.

We stayed two nights in a family room with sea view. Room was spacious and clean, beds were comfortable. Bathroom was ok with basic minimum. if you wanted to use the kettle either you have to move the table or use it on the floor, plug points are in bizarre places.
There weren't many choices for breakfast. On the second day we had to sit in the untidy dining room to get a something called a bun. For checkin there was a nice lady but for the checkouts nobody was there. Would not recommend this hotel.

My husband and I with my 91 year old mother had an excellent Christmas Day lunch at The Lugger Hotel in Penzance. On arriving we were warmly greeted and showed to our festively decorated table. We had booked the 12noon to 3pm sitting and had a leisurely meal without being rushed or hassled to finish. The dining room was warm, cosy and decorated tastefully for Christmas. All the staff were extremely helpful, professional and obliging. There was a choice of starters, main courses and a large variety of delicious hot and cold desserts. My husband is a retired chef and he thought that the homemade duck liver pate for starters was the best he had ever tasted. The roast consisted of a choice of 4 meats and an enormous range of fresh vegetables plus roast and mashed potatoes - all cooked to perfection and nicely served up by the chef. The Xmas pudding wasn't the usual individual mass produced variety but a gorgeous tasty homemade one. We can definitely recommend The Lugger to everyone else and we will certainly return.

Arrived on a wet and windy November afternoon. Friendly greeting, shown to room. As to be expected, great room with a sea view (discovered that in the morning).

Only downside was that the restaurant is closed on a Tuesday evening. If I'd have been notified, 5 stars would have been given..
