A lovely position by sea front but oh what a shame about our room! Situated on top floor and a horrible first impression as we mounted the stairs, awful decor, old fashioned, dirty and that's just the stairs and landing! Our double room was minute, bed very soft, a foot to spare each side, horrible dirty window and view, plug coming off wall, shaver light cracked and dangerous as was plug, TV minuscule wardrobe a foot deep and three little drawers for two people, bathroom dirty, would not want to sit in scratched dirty bath, unable to use shower as no power and scorching, sure that's illegal and freezing cold that gushes out! The only good point was the clean linen and towels! Upon leaving no managerial staff to complain to just a box for your room key! We obviously asked to change rooms but told nothing else available, this room not worth the £85 charged!! Will never be returning or recommending this hotel.

The Hotel Inspector would have a field day at The Lugger!
Tired, cheap furnishings, bed & shower clean, good location, parking for 4 cars and a skip until Sunday when a Bouncy Castle takes preference. Breakfast staff pleasant, completely ignored at departure by management. You pay on arrival, not departure - the chances are you may ask for a reduction!!
Would I revisit? No.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful. When we checked in, we were directed to the very large room, which contained a king and three single beds. Unfortunately the furniture was in a poor state - one of the two bedside tables was close to toppling over. There were no bedside tables at all for the king bed, and no working bedside lamps (there was only one in the whole room and it didn't work). The bathroom was basic and very small, but everything functioned as it should. The beds themselves were quite comfortable.

Unexpected stay en route to Scilly, booked first and then saw largely bad reviews and thought oh dear.
Reality was that for the budget price I had a lovely room, a super carvery meal, a relaxing drink on a lovely terrace adjacent the sea, and a nice chat to friendly staff.
Highly recommended - what do the moaners expect for this price?

Parts of the hotel have been renovated nicely and the view is fantastic but unfortunately our room (family room with seaview) had not been updated (or thoroughly cleaned- think bird poo on windows and mouldy curtains) for about 50years- (think psychedelic carpet and a bulk buy on yellow paint!) There is no sink in the bathroom or window in the children's seperate part of the bedroom either. The receptionist demanded payment on arrival and explained had made a mistake so instead of agreed £130/night (still overpriced) she now wanted £180/night! The serving staff were wonderful though and only reason I gave more than 1*.
