We had our family recently stay at TB, together with grandparents and 3 dogs. It is an impressive location, building and all within great countryside.
The host was very welcoming, including a very nice handmade cake to greet our welcome, freshly supplied from the bakery literally next door.
We did have a couple of niggles though, some were dealt with quickly, i.e. A new mattress for one of the guest rooms and the existing mattress was simply well passed its sell by date. Jane, the owner, duly replaced the mattress the next day, much appreciated by our guests for a good nights sleep.
Unfortunately before we had arrived there had been an heating oil leak in the boiler/downstairs bathroom, which, in itself would not have been a major issue, but every time the boiler was on, heating the rooms or water, the smell permeated through out the house, so much so we had the leave the the bathroom doors shut and its outside door open all the time. The stench was really off putting.
The only other item I would raise is that whilst the facilities supplied and available were vast, many were either tired, in need of updating, replacing, including kitchen appliances, bathroom showers, games room, tv remotes, etc.
These were all small in issues, but collectively did cause an eyebrow to be raised and therefore not a 5 but a good 4 star.
Would we return, yes, but only after the oil problem has been addressed together with the snag list above.
Thanks Jane for sharing your lovely building and location with our family.
We booked this barn for my birthday party. There were 8 adults, 3 children and 2 dogs. We were so pleased on arrival, there was so much room for everyone, it wasn't difficult to find your own quiet corner if needed. The kitchen is Fantastic, my friend cooked us all a 3 course meal with ease.
Beautiful surroundings and only a 10min drive to Newquay. It was a shame the weather had been so bad previous to our stay and we couldn't make use of the footpaths but we had a lovely walk on Fistral beach.
I would love to go back and stay in warmer months.
We had a great stay in this lovely converted barn. There was plenty of room for everyone and there were all of the amenities that we required. The countryside views are great and the location is good for both getting to Newquay or to the A30 and other Cornish destinations. I will definitely be recommending family and friends.
A lovely property, very spacious, well appointed. We stayed as a family of 9, from grand parents down to grand children. Overall, excellent, just a few comments.
One toilet roll per loo? I guess we could have asked for more, but really!!
The microwave and cooker, worked fine, but the cookers markings to show temperature etc worn away. The microwave, well some instructions may have been useful, the hob, bit of a struggle to control the heat, it was done by placing a finger on a dial, but maybe just worn out.
The one real crib I would have was the open fire in the lounge. It was all made up and a small bag of wood alongside, (labeled £3.99), and we bought a small net of logs, from the owner, which i was told was £5.00, but was charged £10.00 for the two. In the shops we bought three nets for £10.00. We were told the nets would do three fires, no they won't, over two bags a night is required if you light the fire about tea time.
Plus it would have been nice to have been provided with kindling. Just a thought
Came for a weekend away with friends, and it was absolutely beautiful! From the booking side of things I can't say too much as I didn't have much to do with it but I think it was straight forward and easy. The barn is spacious, clean and perfect for a weekend away. The views are stunning and the location is great, we were never in a taxi longer than 10 minutes to get to the town. Highly recommended.
