There is good reason why this place is #ranked 1 out of 1096 restaurants in Cornwall, for what they do, they do really well. While planning our trip I looked at places to eat while we were there and read the reviews for The Wheel House which more than lives up its reputation. Tina and her team love what they do and this really shines through with them sourcing fresh local produce, keeping it simple and combining it with attentive service. Everything we tried was amazing so if we had to choose we would say the scallops were incredible as were the mussels and the prawns, yum yum yumm!!! Altough we had ordered mussels in creamy wine sauce Tina sent over a plate of mussels in her Thai sauce as well - all we can say is wow, both my 9 year old son and I were mopping up the dish with our bread. The evening ensured a perfect start to our Holiday - We will be back when local Oysters are 'In Season'. Top Tip: Book before you go to avoid disappointment as this place gets busy, it is unlikely you will be able to walk in and get a table.

This is a very special place; quirky, confident, charming. The food (only written on a chalkboard above the serving area) is sublime; the staff are attentive without being annoying, helpful without being patronizing and their love of what they do shines through. We were shown to a table amongst the hotchpotch of furniture to find that two of us were to sit on a chaise longue for our meal - hilarious and not as uncomfortable as it sounds. Only three wines on the menu - red, white and a fizz so no messing about. The shellfish here is the star of the show and it's presented simply, wonderfully fresh and vibrant in flavour and texture. We ordered scallops (oh my, they were good), mussels (in a thai broth, small ones but beautifully fresh), prawns - shell on and shell off (the shell off ones got a bit lost in the beautiful copper turines they're served in) and crab, served simply with the utensils you need to really dig in, chips and salad. We all dived in and had a ball. It's really the way to eat - yes you get finger bowls and plenty of kitchen roll. We loved it. Such a treat.

How can you not love a restaurant where they apologise for not bringing the bread out yet, "sorry it's still in the oven". It came soon afterwards steaming hot accompanied by oil and balsamic. Completely yummy.

Two bottles of fizz and stuffed with food we left £111 (for four) lighter. An absolute bargain. Book if you can, book you must.

Reviewing this restaurant is easy. If you don't like seafood or informality, don't go. If you like both, you must go if you get the chance. The prawns and crab we ate were both good, but the scallops were out of this world; so much so, we had a second portion! The rusticity of the restaurant adds to the atmosphere, with all the staff extremely friendly and helpful, expertly explaining how to get the meat out of the legs of our spider crab! A real experience and very reasonably priced. Likely you'll have to book well in advance.

This place has such a lovely atmosphere, really bubbly and energetic, and the food was incredible. Between the five of us we tried a good chunk of the menu and it was good, simple, no frills-speaks-for-itself seafood! The owner Tina was friendly and chatty (but not too chatty).
We were a bit squashed in, but even that was actually ok thanks to the atmosphere, and as we were pretty lucky to get a table anyway.
