“A 5 star diamond place to stay”

The place was so amazing & was a 5 star diamond place to stay in the beautiful city of Chester. I went with my mother & the place was an unexpected gem of a place. Ken the owner was a fabulous top bloke & nothing was ever a problem. The place was immaculate & a lovely comfy bed & everything you could want was on hand. The morning having breakfast in the room, overlooking the water in the sunshine was fantastic ( although the weather wasnt the greatest ). Couldnt find fault with anything & was worth every penny.

Canal view is very central & you are only a leisurely stroll to the centre of town or to the racecourse. A walk around the walls is a must & there is alot of canal boats drifting down the canal on the other side for you to view. If you are lucky you can see them going up the canal ladders up the locks on the hill, a real feat of Victorian invention & still going strong today! We saw 2 boats going up & it was some sight.

We went in the very early spring but in warm summer Canal View would be so good as you could throw open the french windows & relax & let the world go by. A fabulous place & is a real gem & so romantic if it was just you & your partner.
Best place i have found & so worth it.

“Lovely room with brilliant range of facilities”
Reviewed 24 February 2015 for a stay in July 2014

Perfect for a weekend break or a longer stay. Self-contained facilities with bedroom area, kitchen and dining areas and a bathroom. Situated in a lovely spot next to the canal with convenient access to the town centre - it takes 5-10 minutes to walk into town. Chester is a lovely place to visit with a friendly feel. Friendly and helpful owner, happy to help with any queries. Room very clean and tidy.

“Small but perfectly formed - a great place to stay”
Reviewed 27 January 2015 for a stay in January 2015

From the booking being placed through to opening the gate for us as we left, Ken was very accommodating and friendly. The room has everything you should need, except if you want to cook a three course meal. Unless of course you do the M&S two for £10 thing! There is a small oven, a microwave, a sink and a kettle, as well as a cafetiere with a stock of coffee in the freezer compartment of the small larder fridge.

The room is very handy for Chester, and you can take a walk along the walls and be at the clock tower within quarter of an hour. Being by the canal is a great plus point when eating breakfast, and you can wave at the early morning strollers as they pass by. After a packed day out and about, it's nice to relax and watch a DVD, flick through the Sky TV channels to see what's on, or surf the net using the wi-fi access provided.

Would heartily recommend this place - it's not a B&B, an apartment or a hotel, it's a room in someone's home with an en-suite and galley kitchen, but you'd never know it until you set foot outside your door. I have stayed in much poorer quality hotels and B&Bs for twice the price, so the value can't be argued with, especially this close to the City Centre.

“What a find!”

This place is definitely worth a visit. It seems a bit weird at first, the landlord basically rents out the ground floor of his 3 storey town house so he is about. But once he's introduced himself and given some very useful advice about Chester you don't see him again (if you do it doesn't matter he's really nice).
The room has a king size bed which is very comfy. The ensuite bathroom has plenty of hot water and a powerful shower.Theres even a quirky mini kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and a mini oven. There's a complimentary brekkie basket which was a wonderful added touch. Its about 10mins walk from the pubs and shops of Chester. Canal View is clean, secure and good value for money. Well worth a visit. We will be going back next time we are in Chester.

Canal Veiw is located on the canal side 10 minuets from the city.
Parking is limited but secure in a gated area. The kitchenette is small but adequate with the sink hidden under the work surface and a toaster in the cupboard and small oven below the sink .A microwave is ideal for heating small meals.A fridge is also in the room. cuttlery , cups and plates provided.
The bathroom is of a big enough size with a nice shower big enough for two.
The bed is a double and very comfy and by the french windows a table and chairs, ideal for breakfast with a lovely veiw.
The room is lockable at all times
The breakfast basket provided was well thought out with cereal boxes ,ham, cheese.pastries, fruit juices, cereal bars and of course tea and coffeewith milk.
Ken was always on hand when neede to be but not in your face and dealt quickly with a couple of enqueries.
Lots of info on the city and places to see and eat at are available.
All this made our a stay more enjoyable and Ken made us feel welcome.
I look forward to staying again when next in the city
