I am astounded by some of these negative reviews as our experience is the total opposite.
When looking for reception venues for our wedding we wanted a hotel that we could have exclusive use of,had charm and character, had an opulence that would make us and our guests feel special and that had friendly and accommodating staff....this hotel had it all and in abundance,
Nothing was too much trouble, from Gemma and Victoria guiding us through it all, to Eric the wonderful toast master- the whole day was perfect and all our guests had a ball.
The food was excellent especially as we had a hundred for the wedding breakfast and one hundred and fifty for the evening and the following day no one was made to feel rushed into leaving.
Our guests(especially those from abroad)were bowled over by the bedrooms and our bridal suited was gorgeous.
Would I recommend this hotel........without a moments hesitation. In fact one of my work colleagues is paying it a visit as he heard from several of our guests how superb it all is.

I travel extensively especially around Asia and use TripAdvisor as an extremely reliable guide, accepting the fact it's possible the best review may be by the owner or his friend and the worst by a disgruntled ex-employee or someone who just can't be pleased. So when I had to attend a family wedding at Rowton Hall many of the previous reviews set alarm bells ringing.

My experience: the check in was fast and efficient. My room (no.19) spacious, extremely clean and with a great view. The gardens where the wedding photos were taken are fabulous. Drink service was very efficient. As it was a wedding reception and there were170 guests and all had the same menu, then the food was good for this level, and everyone was served virtually simultaneously. All in all and bearing in mind the previous week I spent 5 days at the super de luxe Raffles Hotel in Beijing so I had the world's best to compare I would rate this hotel very highly.

I cannot rate value for money as I did not pay, nor as we had a set menu banquet for the reception can I rate the dining room a la carte food quality but the menu looked interesting and the prices reasonable. A couple of minor points, like many old English residences it's a little hard to find and as far as I know there was no elevator so my 3rd floor room but apart from this, I would give Rowton Hall 99 out of 100.

We got married at Rowton Hall on the 27th October 2007 and just couldn't wait to go back there. The hotel is class, the rooms beautifully decorated and the facilites superb. Our wedding day was the best day of my life and nothing was too much trouble for the Staff. Special mention must go to Eric Jones.
So I was eager to book a return for our 1st Wedding Anniversary this year 2008. I booked us the package of Room, 3 Course Meal & Breakfast. With my confirmation from Mel (The Reservations Manager) I was excited to see that she had complimentary upgraded us to a 4 Poster Junior Suite (The Marmaduke). The room is beautiful (it was the one on the website with the zebra prints!) I was really pleased when I opened the door to see that we were in this suite. We came down for our evening meal and were met by Eric who remembered us from our wedding day. The service was just impeccable. The meal beautiful and excellent value for money.
The following day after a full english breakfast (again excellent) we made for the relaxing pool and sauna. The only downside of our whole stay was having to leave......
Needless to say my husband has agreed that we shall return for every anniversary (and I have dropped hints for valentines day and my birthday!) We didn't use the Spa this time but had at the Wedding and again it is to be recommended.
Thank you so much Rowton Hall for making our stay so memorable and if you are thinking of staying here please ignore the other derogatory reviews (I don't think those people had really been to the Hotel!)

i stayed at rowton hall country hotel for 2 nights in september with my friend, after readin the reviews on here after booking i was really worried. but to my experience on reviews in the past i knew they arnt all ways right. i arrived at rowton hall at 4pm and was welcomed by friendly staff behind reception desk, check in was quick and as it was 2 girls staying a lovely young gentleman carried our bags to our rooms. we stayed on a dinner bed and breakfast rate as we had came for a relaxing weekend so wasnt planning on leaving the hotel, whilst we were there we decided to treat ourselves to some spa treatments, a lovely young lady in the spa talk through all the treatments and helped us decide what would be best for us. i decided on a full body massage and my friend had a facial and a manicure, the treatments were lovely and up to a very high standard. i found th spa was beautiful and the staff were really friendly and helpful. i really enjoyed my treatments and have booked to go back there for my birthday next month with a group of girls for the spa day offer there have on. i found the food in the hotel was lovely. overall me and my friend had a lovely stay at rowton hall and felt really relaxed at the end of it and it was worth the money. i would reccomend this to all my friends and family and i would say dont worry about the reviews you read.
