Description: Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor, has held a Michelin star for nineteen years running surely a record outside of London. Under the direction of Executive Chef Simon Radley the exceptional modern British menu changes seasonally and uses only the finest ingredients. The cellar is also renowned, having one thousand bins and a sommelier of prodigious knowledge. The dining room itself is as dashing as you would expect with comfy chairs, oriental carpets, fine woods, original artwork, ebony pillars and many-layered tones of gold and taupe. The service is distinguished by its warmth and professionalism. Top marks.

You get what you pay for. Imaginative food, excellent service, fantastic bread, a wine list to lose yourself in and a superb atmosphere.

“Simply Sensational!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2012

From the moment the concierge takes your coat you are whisked into a little bit of old england charm and service. The decor is relaxing and reminiscent of times gone by but in a ubercool sort of way. LIghting and ambience perfect as you sip your first cocktail from the way too tempting cocktail menu.

Canapes are interesting and tasty. Service excellent. Mid week tasting menu is excellent value for money as is the wine tasting menu.

Eight courses of pure joy - though beware the bread trolley as already mentioned in several reviews - would be very easy to eat the lot and leave!

Second star surely coming soon.

Faultless in every way.

“If I was the Michelin reviewer....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

With friend we had a superb dinner on Friday 13th of April at Simon Radley in Chester. Living on a location in the Netherlands with several 1, 2 and even 3 Michelin star restaurants, we can say that we are a little bit spoiled...So our expectation for having dinner in a 1 star restaurant in Chester was not to high. Being there we were surprised by excellent food, very nice presentation and a somewhat formal, but cosy atmosphere. The question raised..."why does this Chef not have a second star?" Did Michelin passed by this restaurant in their review....? Come on guys this Chef deserves a second star!
