We got a room at the back to cut down traffic noise. Because the window had to be open a lot (the heat wave!) we still got lots of noise. No air conditioning (common in the UK, still) but they did provide an electric fan. The place had a 1960s feel and the room was very small. The bathroom door would not open fully because of the bed and two people could not pass each other.
Cambridge is expensive but this seemed poor value for money.
Plus side, quite close to the rail station and very close to the Botanic Gardens.

Room Tip: A little quieter at the back

Had dinner here this evening. Very nice, quiet decor and seating.
Everything we ordered was delicious & nicely presented.
Wait staff were obliging & courteous-we shall definitely be going back during our stay!

From the welcome at reception you know this is going to be just fine-and so helpful. Clean rooms, a little tired décor, comfortable beds ,an electric fan. Breakfast was fine. Convenient. Reasonable price. free parking. Will recommend to all.

I'd read plenty of good reviews before booking this hotel but was unfortunately a bit disappointed. The room was a little tired and dreary and the old fashioned dark wood furniture did not help. There is also a strange canopy thing above the bed which is really dated. A number of the digital channels on the TV didn't work and I could not get a Wi-Fi signal (I stayed in room 226). Finally breakfast starts at 7.30, which is really too late for business travellers, especially in a very busy city like Cambridge.

Room Tip: If you need WI-FI, check it works in your room before you unpack

Thank you for your review.

We are very disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I am very surprised that the WiFi was not working for you as the hotel has recently installed a state of the art WiFi system that has so far only returned excellent feedback. Also, all of the TV's are freeview ready and we rarely have any problems with guests not being able to tune in to digital channels.

We do wish that you would have brought these grievances to our attention immediately as we would have been able to find a solution for you.

Kind Regards
Stel

Stayed for a night after visiting around and in Cambridge.Welcome was good. As mentioned in another review bathroom small, shower with the bath and a risk of hitting one's head on the ceiling and the bath has a very high side. Bedroom dark, and very hot like everywhere else, fan very noisy. Breakfast was reasonable and staff again very attentive. Parking very tight. Location good for walk or bus into the centre of Cambridge.
