We popped into Koh Thai on our first visit to Bristol. Unfortunately on arrival the welcome was frosty to say the least. I don’t know if it was because the staff had been hoping to close and it was frustrating for 3 of us to arrive at 8pm on a bank holiday Monday (with no reservation) or because they were exhausted from a busy weekend....either way we felt very awkward and a bottle of water was banged onto our table like a grenade. However we were accommodated late on a bank holiday with no reservation , we were then served efficiently and the waitresses did become friendlier as the meal went on.
Starters came out quickly, well presented and very tasty. Mains were fab. Nice and spicy. Actually my Crispy Sea Bass was very spicy. Englishy Thai food. I understand that a lot of people would not consider it authentic but regardless it tasted great.
All in all turned out a good visit after a bit of an awkward start.
