The Masthead is our go to restaurant for special occasions; we've been going here for years.
We were a little concerned on Saturday night, as we had heard rumours of changes. It's true that the owner hasn't been there the last two times but it turns out everything is just fine.
We were warmly greeted by Dean, who, as he says, loves his job. Dean made sure we were happy at all times and when we mentioned that one of our party was having his birthday, Dean made sure to make a fuss about it. The piano and base player do Happy Birthday very well and the whole restaurant burst into song. Thank you Dean.
The food, of course, is excellent and may even have gotten better. It's all as fresh as possible and expertly prepared by the chef.
My new favourite is the braised beef poutine, made with gnocchi instead of fries. Yummy.
