Rooms were sparsely decorated but the view outside the window onto the water was mesmerizing . Sea lions were lined up on the dock, barking , and there were many boats in the harbor to admire. The desk has earplugs available if the sea lions get too noisy at night. We found it charming.

grand old girl B,

We are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us! The sea lions are seasonal visitors who stay with us for about 6 weeks from the end of October to the beginning of December.

We look forward to their return each year, and we hope to see you again too!

Amazing view from every room, quiet location, comfortable bed. Driftwood color flooring evokes a seaside cottage vibe, but a bit cool on the feet, bring slippers. Kitchen has minimal but adequate cookware if you prefer to cook. The Cow Cafe is upstairs and many good restaurants are walking distance.

The hotel location is good. It is next to the sea. You can have a very good view throughout the day. The room is huge but it's not very clean. Sometimes, bugs could come out of nowhere. Another thing is that there's no air conditioning in the room. Only a fan was provided for us.

My wife and I and two others stayed in a very large two bedroom apartment for three days.
The apartment itself was spacious and very well equipped with all the amenities, in a great setting looking right over the harbour. Large televisions in each bedroom an even larger one in the living room and great quality Wi-Fi.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a restaurant and bar on the top floor although strangely they do close at nine p.m. at night.
There is also a small but nice swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna as well as a well-equipped gymnasium on the ground floor.

Stayed here as a stopover. It was a slow time of the year. Staff were friendly and helpful. Suite was clean and very nice for our standards. The beds and linen were very comfortable and we should get their make to buy our own. The suite was complete with a fridge, stove, microwave, plates and cutlery. There was a TV in the living room area and bedroom. The curtains in rooms facing the water/marina are sheer...so, if you are not an exhibitionist....take care. The rooms were quiet, the pool area and hot tub were also quiet, clean and appreciated. The gym was great with enough equipment to satisfy the athletic traveler. We did not take in the restaurant or other facilities. The location is on the side of a hill and close to the road. Though the marina was nice to look at and the store frontage was nice to walk-by,it was pretty close to the road. There was a beach at the Suites but it was narrow and short. It bordered on Treaty Land and was posted NO TRESPASSING. There is in sufficient room to adequately walk a dog and in fact we had to sign the registration to ensure there were no dogs in the room. I believe they allow dogs because we did see another customer come out of a room with a dog in tow. Would I highly recommend it? Not really... it was expensive for us and not up our alley....and not SuperDuper

Room tip: Most rooms if not all seem to face the water. Parking is covered.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay.

Our rooms do have a second set of blackout curtains, as well as the sheers. I'm assuming that you just missed seeing them, but if we were as quiet as you mentioned, during your stay, we could have moved you to another room if the blackout curtains were missing.

We are a pet friendly hotel, however we have a limited number of rooms set aside for pets so that our other guests who may have allergies will not have issues during their stay.
