Beautiful on the Outside, Disgusting on the Inside

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely loved the estate these cabins are located on. The entire area and gardens were well-kept and stunning. You can see that the owners really care about nature, the overall quality of their property and sustainability. There are also a lot of animals roaming the grounds.

Inside the cabin, it was a completely different picture, however. The place was bug-infested and filthy. I understand that this is in the middle of the jungle and that insects might get inside, but to this degree, it was simply unacceptable. There were literally worms and maggots along the walls, and dead flies, and squished mosquitos all over the place. I also found long hairs on the bathroom wall, which were still there after my three-night stay. It was something out of a horror movie and I indeed felt disgusted using the bathroom.

I have traveled across 70 countries and 7 continents, including some of the most underdeveloped places on earth without running water and electricity. Yet Los Pinos has made it on my list of worst accommodations.

Sin duda la propiedad es una reserva que deja ver sus joyas a todos los que nos visitan y así colaboran con un proyecto familiar fundado desde 1987 y en el cual hemos aprendido, al haber obtenido varias certificaciones ambientales y sociales, sobre la calidad.
Respecto a la limpieza que mencionas me sorprende muchísimo, tenemos personas capacitadas y responsables encargadas de brindar limpieza y un alojamiento de calidad, pero siempre podemos mejorar, todos siempre debemos ser humildes y aprender a reconocer errores cuando los hayamos cometido. Habría agradecido nos hubieras hecho saber tu situación desde el primer momento, para evitar que no estuvieras a gusto. Ya realicé reuniones con nuestro personal para evitar a toda costa que se repita y pido disculpas. Como dices a veces los insectos pueden ser más de los esperados y la verdad es que hay de muchos tipos y los cuales actúan de manera inesperada, aunque pensemos que tenemos todo controlado.
Te aseguro que esta experiencia nos hará mejorar y reconocer que siempre podemos dar algo mejor para todos los que nos visiten. Los Pinos siempre se ha caracterizado por ser un alojamiento de calidad y responsable con el destino de Monteverde. Te invito a un café cuando quieras para disculparme en persona y para que me des más recomendaciones de tus viajes por el mundo, así podremos mejorar aún más. Cute cabin in gorgeous setting that's close to town.

Our family of 6 stayed in the deluxe family villa. There were 3 separate bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms. Plenty of space, great front porch with a picnic table and 2 hammocks to relax. Walking distance to shops and great restaurants. Well-maintained trail on the property that lead to a beautiful view. Family owned and operated, very nice people. We hope to return one day!

Accommodations for a night stay

We were a group of 3 couples an reserved an entire cabin that actually had individual rooms with their own bathrooms! Super convenient in helping keep everyone together when your on the go. Cabins aren't 5 star luxury but for the cost, location an layout it was . From Los Pinos it was a short drive to Monteverde which was the purpose to our trip an a downhill walk (15-20mins) to Santa Elena restaurants / souvenir shops but, I do recommend a taxi back up the hill. Other convenience is breakfast shop near the entrance (Cerro Plano Bakery) an pastry Cafe (Stella's Monteverde) just short walk from Los Pinos...plus others nearby that looked great as well.

Room tip: Weather there is cool (60s°F.) an drizzly most of the time. A light waterproof jacket comes in handy.

Lovely place to stay while in Monteverde!

We spent several nights at Los Pinos while bird-watching and hiking in Monte Verde. We really enjoyed our stay- everyone was super helpful and nice, and the property was lovely. We appreciate the hotel's commitment to being environmentally friendly and supporting the community. The property has a long hike you can do on your own, which was lovely and where we saw birds and wildlife running around. The cabin was really comfortable, and everything worked great. Would recommend for anyone looking for a cozy spot to stay in.

Ideal in every way

Staff... Wonderfully helpful and polite. They helped with arranging excursions, helped with our Espanol and are chatty and friendly
Food.... Great local produce and excellent breakfast
Cleanliness... Prefect
Location... Ideal, close to shops, restaurants but far enough away
Room.... Huge comfy bed, an amazing view of the grounds and the added bonus of a great bath!
Internet.... Very fast
Extras... Great gardens
