Lovely place to stay while in Monteverde!

We spent several nights at Los Pinos while bird-watching and hiking in Monte Verde. We really enjoyed our stay- everyone was super helpful and nice, and the property was lovely. We appreciate the hotel's commitment to being environmentally friendly and supporting the community. The property has a long hike you can do on your own, which was lovely and where we saw birds and wildlife running around. The cabin was really comfortable, and everything worked great. Would recommend for anyone looking for a cozy spot to stay in.

Ideal in every way

Staff... Wonderfully helpful and polite. They helped with arranging excursions, helped with our Espanol and are chatty and friendly
Food.... Great local produce and excellent breakfast
Cleanliness... Prefect
Location... Ideal, close to shops, restaurants but far enough away
Room.... Huge comfy bed, an amazing view of the grounds and the added bonus of a great bath!
Internet.... Very fast
Extras... Great gardens

feels like living in the forest

The whole location of the hotel is amazing. Sitting in the hammock and listening to the birds chirping was marvelous. The rooms are spacious and clean. Los Pinos is close to the town it is far enough away to feel like its isolated and quiet. The place wasn't busy when we arrived and the staff were so helpful with planing our stay. The bakery close to the hotel is perfect for breakfast. The property has its own hiking trail and green house. The whole place is amazing. Highly recommended.

Room tip: make sure you visit the hiking trails of the property including the green house

Unpleasant experience

I have a lot of cons but I will go with the pro first. This was a very cute and quaint cabin with the feel of like camping. The cons: the man at the front office was not friendly and seemed like he was bothered that we were asking questions. Hair dryer blew up and melted, which I put in the sink to cool off. I reported to the office and he seemed to care less and didn’t say a word to me just handed me a new hair dryer. They never came and retrieved the old one. Coffee maker never worked.
Cleaning was never done and we were there for 3 nights.
The worst part was, you are not able to flush toilet paper down the pipes due to old plumbing. So needless to say it was kind of disgusting that they never picked up our garbage during the whole time we stayed there.

This is our second home

We've stayed at Los Pinos every March for so many years that we've lost count. The cabins are private and surrounded by nature. They're well-appointed, with full kitchens. The property boasts its own trails, look-out over the Gulf of Nicoya, and a hydroponic garden where you can get produce for your kitchen.

The family there will welcome you and help you plan all your activities. We return every year for good reason!

Room tip: The superior cabins have fireplaces.
