I am a Cape Bretoner who has lived most of my life in Toronto. Someone once exclaimed to me after visiting Cape Breton that “there wasn’t a 5 star hotel on the entire island!”
Well, that was - then...
I am living back home now and had the good fortune of entertaining our British visitors at this chalet in Inverness.
We were delighted from the moment we walked in and gazed through the expanse of windows at the magnificent view of Ocean & Sky!
The chalet was newly designed along modern lines..
Subtle colour, light wood floors and a Herman Miller Eames style chair offset by large paintings of “ pit ponies” reminiscent of the local coal mines, enhanced and calmed the senses.
I was charmed by the pale grey cedar tree stumps that served as bedside tables, the interesting clothes hooks and the bedroom benches complete with drawers. There was a headboard constructed of slats of board nailed on the wall. All was very efficient with modern light fixtures. The kitchen and bathrooms were well appointed; a washer/dryer was available and ...extra pillows!
The refrigerator was stocked with water and juice; the variety of glassware gleamed in the cupboards; and the coffee machine was ready to go with pods of joe you could sip at the black high-top kitchen table.
A beautifully carved wooden bird perched near some golf books was one of many light touches.
All in all-
A top quality lodging to match the first class golf courses in the region!
