Stayed 3 nights. Stunning location with a deck overlooking the ocean. Fantastic breakfast left in our fridge each night. Jennifer couldn't be more helpful and friendly. This was the case with everyone we met in the area

We stayed in the Den for four nights and had a lovely stay in this delightful seafront location.

The views are amazing and the decks are a great place to sit.

We were greeted by Richard when we arrived and he provided helpful information on the area and recommendations for local restaurants.

The Den is spacious and pleasant with its own private decking with sea view. There is an enormous and very comfortable shared lounge area with a further large decking area with seating and the most amazing sea views.

We were provided with an extensive and tasty breakfast each day.

This isn't a traditional B&B in that the breakfast arrived in our fridge during the day for the next morning leaving us the flexibility to eat it when we wanted. However it did mean that we had little contact with our hosts which some may find strange.

The only criticism of the Den was that it was rather dark and there wasn't a good light to read with.

However it is a wonderful retreat in a piece of paradise.

The view from this property is spectacular! However, my poor rating reflects the mis-match of our expectations with the experience. Beginning with the proprietor informing us that breakfast was no longer included, the sign on the door requesting we remove our shoes before entering (after a long drive and arriving in drizzle), and the sign in the kitchen that it was a "private kitchen" not for guest use, the initial impression was not positive. Getting to our room, which I suspect was previously a storage room located underneath the house, required hauling luggage down steps and through a narrow walkway outside the house. The only heat for this room was provided by a space heater. However, the view was great and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was minimalist and the room decor was rustic mixed with quirky. Canisters set out in the living area in the house marked "Cookies" and "hot chocolate" provided hope, but to our disappointment only two cookies and no hot chocolate. The TV in our room worked well which was needed because of the noise of footsteps and voices as well as toilets flushing and showers running above. Bottom line, if you enjoy more of a camping experience and it's all about the view, this may be your place. Otherwise, you might want to seek out other options.

Spectacular view & wonderful hosts!! The room was spacious and Jen/Rich offer great advice on things to do & places to see in Ucluelet. The history of the establishment was a welcome surprise and is something you should ask about. I would highly recommend staying here!

We stayed at the B&B for 5 nights and what a phenominal time we had. This all started immediately when we walked through the door of horizons west. Jennifer and Richard were absolutely wonderful in every respect. They were friendly, very knowledgeable of the local area, and are simply just great hosts. We were literally blown away by the standard of accommodation! The decor and furnishings are well suited, and are of a very high standard. The location is breathtaking as you relax on the balcony as deer and bald eagles fight for your attention literally metres from your seat. We had the two rooms on the top floor and they were absolutely beautiful. It really felt like home from home you felt that relaxed staying here.
It is situated only a 15 minute walk into the centre of Ucluelet where there are some lovely restaurants to dine in.
Ucluelet is a beautiful place for everyone whether you want to relax at the beautiful beaches, hike on the many trails, or watch the amazing wildlife whether it be seals, bears or eagles. We did them all and more. Horizons West made this holiday absolutely perfect. Thank you Richard and Jennifer we hope to return one day for sure!
