This place is very interesting and presents the history of some of North America’s earliest settlement. Unfortunately it has awful accoustics and if you have any hearing issues it a problem.

Great facility with friendly, proud happy people to tell you about their history. For such a small place its a wonderful facility. Toured the Legacy center, the Church ( original pipe organ ) and the graveyard 1812 oldest stone. While walking the Graveyard the Church curators can out to see if we were look for particular stone ( we weren't ) but they provided lots of history and insight. Lucky enough to have seen the Huge British Union Jack Flag flying

Cupids is the site of the first English settlement in Canada, some 50 miles from St John's. This centre is an excellent source of information and very well presented. The staff were most helpful. After the visit, we understood much more about the history of the place. Before we knew that we going to St John's we were completely ignorant of the historical significance of the area. Now we know!

The facility is well organized; the guides were well informed. The story is told in an interactive manner. We also visited the "dig" and I recommend including this in the visit. An extra treat was a book sale (and who can pass up a used book sale?)

Our used book sale is an annual event and a great fundraiser for us! I have passed along your kind compliments to our staff - they always appreciate hearing they are doing a great job!
Thanks for visiting and for taking the time to let us know you enjoyed it!

Visited the Centre and learned that this area was the first English speaking settlement in Canada. Who knew! The Centre presents several artifacts from early settlers to the area and a good overview of the history. Staff were very helpful. In addition to the Centre, you can visit the archaeological dig just down the road. Staff take you on a walk of the dig to explain where the first settlers lived and how they lived - we are talking 1610. A very worthwhile visit to learn about another aspect of Canadian history.
