A very charming cottage. Immaculately clean with attention paid to detail. Everything you need for a cosy comfy stay. Amazing fairy woodland gardens with various seats to sit and take in the birdsong. Plenty of information available for places to visit. A car is essential in our opinion, as the lanes have no walkways. We managed to get some mobile coverage but no WiFi....bliss! Overall a lovely spot to get away from it all.

“Quaint little house in the middle of nowhere”

We had a 2 day stay and loved the charme of this old house.
It's a little trip to the past, but you got the modern conveniences; except WIFI.
The fireplace was a great extra you got at no hotel.
Carole helped when we had a question and made sure the place was in best shape when we arrived.

“Couldn't even rate it because we only stayed for 10 minutes!!!! Terrible doesn't even come close.”

The previous reviews that we went on to help us book our short break which was to be a recuperative stay after a hospital admission, was of no help whatsoever!!!
The place was unwelcoming and the first smell to hit us was the overwhelming odour of damp tinged with kippers. Very tired, unkempt, and unloved. Would never advertise this place for a holiday!
This place does not even warrant a star and we lost £165 with not even a reply or follow up from the owner to ask why it wasn't suitable.
Full payment was required upon booking, we appreciate that we all have different requirements from a holiday accommodation but this definitely didn't live up to our expectations.
My wife was very upset at having to get back on the road and finding alternative accommodation at short notice .
Our advice to anyone considering staying here.......don't pay in full as like us you stand a good chance of either staying and having a disappointing holiday or losing a lot of money

I was very sorry to hear that there was a problem. I always state on all correspondence, if there is a problem 'Call me' I am always on hand and can be at the cottage within minutes. I am always happy to help with problems, actually we have never had any in eleven years. Woodburners can sometimes leave a smokey odour in very old cottages when it has been raining, which it had been. The cottage is around 200 years old and has been restored not modernised, therefore it has many original features, although there is a modern kitchen and bathroom. The cottage is regularly repainted and soft furnishings renewed, being presented clean, cosy and warm with fresh flowers in a number of rooms. We have many returning guests with high reviews, the vast majority of our guests enjoy the original features and the 'step back in time' nature of the cottage, we have often been complemented on the decor and the way the cottage is cared for.

“Quiet, cosy, comfortable and peaceful.”
Reviewed 1 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

Booked this for 5 days over Christmas 2016. It is all it says in the description and more besides. No wifi, poor phone signal - absolute bliss!! Lots to do locally and an interesting boxing day tradition with 50 plus tractors parading through the village. Being able to take the dog was a real plus and having all linen and towels included, felt like luxury. This cottage has been thoughtfully restored and the owners skill and crafts are in evidence. Another lovely touch was a welcome bottle of wine and some chocolates. Thanks Carole and Wilf.

“Lovely cottage in which to take life in the slow lane for a while”
Reviewed 28 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Lovely, well-equipped, cottage in a quiet location to spend a short break getting away from the rush of day-today life. Well-stocked shop and pub in the village a mile down the road (though be careful at night as there is no pavement).
