Wonderful B&B and great location within walking distance from Main Street

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Oct 2016
Ashlea House is a beautiful, old mansion close to the waterfront and within walking distance from Main Street and some excellent restaurants. Lynn is a great host who is very helpful with information about the area and places to eat. Ashlea House is in a great location to explore the town of Lunenburg and the surrounding area. You can take a day-trip to Peggy's Cove and back if that is on your agenda. If you are a photographer, you can get good shots of Lunenburg from the Golf Course across the bay. Drive up the hill to the Club House for postcard, photo's of Lunenburg and its waterfront and brightly colored buildings. Breakfasts were outstanding and a good place to meet and converse with the other guests to compare notes on dining places and site seeing. One thing to keep in mind, is that some of the rooms are on the third floor and the steps can be a challenge if you have mobility issues. We were on the 3rd floor and our room had a view of the harbor (although overlooking a building) and some beautiful sunrises. You will enjoy this B&B.

Room Tip: Be aware that some rooms are on the 3rd floor and the steps can be a challenge for some people....

We spent two nights--October 14 and 15th--in the Cottage Room. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was delightfully delicious with a different full and plentiful menu each of the two days. We enjoyed the interaction of Innkeepers Lynn and John whose help with planning our days was very much appreciated. Their advice for restaurants and touring the area was perfect. A beautiful well kept restored home which we hope to visit again.

We stayed here for 2 nights in September and had an enjoyable and pleasant stay. The rooms were very quiet and very clean. A hot and delicious breakfast was served every morning, it was such a nice way to meet everyone else and to get some ideas on what to do in Lunenberg. Thank you Lynn for being such a delightful hostess!

We just loved our stay in this beautiful home. The beds were very comfortable and everything was extremely tidy. The breakfast was delicious and hot. The location is superb with a lovely harbour walk of 5 minutes to all the attractions and restaurants. The innkeepers were very hospitable and helpful in giving travel advice. A most relaxing stay!

While we have not stayed in many B&B's everything about this stay was wonderful...friendly greeting by John (the Innkeeper) explaining the house and how things work at the B&B. Our room was one of the smaller ones but inviting with no issues. Next morning we enjoyed a delightful communal breakfast with other guests hosted by Lynn (the Innkeeper). Great food and good conversation. Also the B&B is very close to the center of Lunenburg. We would stay here again without a doubt. Don't miss it.

Room tip: Choose second floor if you have issues with too many stairs.
