We were able to book a room at Maplebird B&B on short notice and were pleased to find the location close to the attractions in Lunenburg and a very comfortable and quiet place to stay. We enjoyed our chats with Barry and Susie about places they have lived and the history of the house we were staying in. We also enjoyed the porch and garden after a day of touring.

We only had one night but would have gladly stayed more to spend more time in Lunenburg.

Room Tip: Only four rooms which all had their own character plus a common sitting room that is very comfortabl...

You'll love the hospitality of Barry and Susie, owners and operators of the Maplebird House in downtown historic Lunenburg. And, it's a fine B&B conveniently located a couple of block from the waterfront.

Did you know that in Nova Scotia, a B&B can only have 4 bedrooms? After that, it's an inn, and then a hotel. So, the Maplebird House is a true B&B, and a truly delightful place to stay.

And, be sure to talk to Barry and Suzy about the best places to tour in the local area. They directed us to the local walking tour (excellent), Blue Rocks fishing village, and to the best whale watching in NS at Brier Island off Digby Neck.

For your stay in Lunenburg, you can't do better in a B&B than Maplebird House.

Barry and Suzy are gracious hosts. We had a nice tour of the home, and we were made welcome to enjoy the deck and large garden in the back. Great place for a glass of wine. The house is a heritage building consistent with the feel of the town, so the layout is interesting (but watch your head in a few places). The bathroom has been fully modernized. Parking is right outside the door. Breakfast included a perfectly-done mushroom omelette plus plenty of coffee, cereal, yogurt and fresh fruit.

I originally wanted to stay in an Inn while visiting historic Lunenburg but decided to stay in a B&B. It was my first time staying in a B&B and Susie and Barry made it a great experience. They were gracious hosts and the breakfasts were outstanding. The location was also great as it was a short walk down to the historic harbourfront. If a visitor has never stayed in B&B before I would say this would be a good place to try that experience.

Thanks Barry and Susie for your wonderful hospitality!

Our room was excellent and very comfortable. The breakfast was substantial and very good. Barry & Susie the hosts were charming. Very helpful about suggesting places to visit. I would highly recommend this B&B.
