Fernie never disappoints. Amazing powder and tons of great runs for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. Great little shop, pubs, and coffee shops right on the hill! Love it here!

I hadn't skied Fernie in 20 years. Their snow was always the attraction here, but they now have the facilities to match. High speed quads abound. There are five bowls, which due to lift configuration are easiest explored from left to right as one faces the mountain.

There's no central high point from which one can ski everywhere, so check the map. The mountain backdrop behind the resort is spectacular. We enjoyed eating outdoors at the Bear's Den, a mid mountain outdoor canteen that sells hotdogs under a shelter roof.

Terrain is pleasantly varied. The bowls make Fernie slightly harder to navigate the whole hill than at more wide open terrain at, say, Kicking Horse or Sunshine, but the runs at Fernie are enjoyably longer than at Sunshine.

As a blue run, intermediate skier, I enjoyed what felt like a higher percentage of intermediate skiing here than at either Kicking Horse or Lake Louise, which have a lot of mogul-infested, elevator shaft runs that I have to avoid.

Very well kept resort. Clean, good food with big portions. Skiing is above average. Lots family friendly runs and challenging black diamonds for our teenage boys.

We visited Fernie on our Powder Highway tour in our RV from Canadream. It was a GREAT stop, allowing us to park right in the parking lot (#4) at the base. I've skied many resorts, Portillo, Colorado, Utah, Alps, and this rates tops among them all. It has a charming mountain feel and amazing terrain. Polar Peak is a bonus lift to a peak with amazing views and fun ski down. Each bowl has something to offer and fun following the sun and conditions from bowl to bowl; could easily spend an entire ski vacation here.
