This restaurant is amazing. Plain and simple. You get amazing, fresh food, impeccably served, in an great interior ambiance at a reasonable price.

I have to qualify ambiance. The restaurant is situated next to the mega shopping complex on Maloney Boulevard. The entire neighborhood has an industrial park feel. The building is a strangely shaped building whose most prominent tenant is a nails salon. There is virtually no parking -- you have to park across the street in the shopping complex where there is tons of parking.

The layout is funny too. I think it used to be Tucson's -- a sports bar. You enter through the bar section with the bar and a few small tables, go through a passageway to the dining room. The walls are sparsely decorated with a Portuguese motif. But you are there for the food.

The seafood is out of this world. It is fresh, abundant, tasty and well prepared. When you order the calamari, don't expect that breaded, deep-fried rings of rubber. This is real calamari, grilled to perfection.

The table d'hote was $28 per person. We had mussels with a great sauce and not overcooked. And the chicken piri piri is to die for. Even without the piri piri sauce, served separately, you can taste the fine grilling. The shoestring fries are perhaps some of the best that I have ever tasted. My partner had the lamb shank, which was done to perfection.

The desserts are out of this world. A half liter of house wine is reasonable at $15 and it is perfect (Portuguese white, or red). Classic table service with bread and linen napkins.

The restaurant is a perfect example of a classy, European style restaurant at reasonable prices. Before tip, a veritable feast came to $82 dollars including wine. That was for appetizer, entree, dessert and coffee

The place was full and it was hopping. Reservations definitely recommended.

On a work trip, I walked into this little restaurant since it was close to the Hotel and I rarely have the ability to walk past a Portuguese restaurant. The restaurant is not very big and when you first walk in it looks even smaller than it actually is. Once you sit down, service is good but once food starts hitting the table... That's when you know it's going to be a good meal. The Chorizo in red wine was VERY good, the chicken was good and a choice of dessert rounded out the generous table d'hote. I will definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

It’s worth going just for the Sarradura (dessert) and the music by the fado stars Cesario Evora and the young new star Mariza.

Not every restaurant should be judged by how high they can stack a fusion appetizer. Anselmo "Manuel" Remedios has been part of the Ottawa restaurant scene going back to La Roma at the corner of Bronson and Somerset in 1975 through to El Meson on Beechwood.

This a great place for warm personal service and food to bring back memories of your last trip to Portugal. In addition to the Sarradura for dessert, Barb had chicken piri piri, generous, crispy, not too piquant and wonderful fries. I had a perfectly cooked cod fillet.

We'll go back for their other specialties: grilled octopus, monkfish and salted cod served in potatoes, eggs, onion and olives.

Having spent he last six winters in Portugal it was such a delight to discover a place, close to home, with the authenticity of local Portuguese restaurants. The food was absolutely wonderful. There were three of us.......starters.....succulent fresh calamari stuffed with tiny morsels of chorizo in a delightfully mildly piquant sauce and served with a side of an equally delicious bean salad. Another had the salad and was quite happy with it except for the red onions which were a little strong. In Portugal it's always a mild white onion. The third mussels in a Pili Pili sauce....he drank the remaining broth!!!! That should tell you everything. Mains......bacalhau a bras....excellent. If you've never had it, salted cod, desalted slightly served in a mixture of julienne potatoes, eggs, onion and decorated with olives. Bacalahu com natas....salted cod baked in cream.......sublime and finally, chicken piri piri.....generous, crispy, not too piquant and wonderful fries. All in all.....a great evening out, a place we will return....time and again!!

I am formerly from Montreal, where Portuguese Restaurants are-a-plenty and well respected and attended by the Quebec crowd ; now in Ottawa,..well... they are different, the crowd that is; they have not yet discovered Great Iberian cuisine and instead fancy themselves with Designer up-and-comer Chefs with Fusion cuisine & small plates. I lament the fact Cafe Spiga & El Meson are no longer around ; they were great and their time had come as the owners wanted to retire and move on.

Portugalos starts the nice tradition once again. Fine traditional Portuguese cuisine covering the various north, south, and island regions that make up the country.

We started with some Portuguese cod fish cakes, Rissois, & grilled octopus ...Excellent. The Pastais de Bacalhau (Cod Fish Cakes) were deep fried, light salty taste, and delicious. The Rissois just burst with Shrimpy cream explosion as you bit into them, and the Octopus was tender and sitting in a olive oil sprinkling....and now

The main meal. The Missus had the Bacalhau au Gratin..baked and lightly salted with cubed potatoes. Very tasty (I took a bite when she was not looking). I had the Lamb shank...tender in a special drizzled sauce, excellently devoured (I gave a bit to the missus out of guilt and respect... she was looking this time).

We had a bottle of white wine for the meal ; deferred on coffee and dessert as we were quite Full and watered down with a nice conversation with the owner.

The Restaurant has one step for entry. I use a scooter or walker, and was helped in over that step. I did not check out the bathrooms ; cannot comment.

To clarify, while not a seafood restaurant, they have many seafood dishes...and some that are both Meat & Seafood.
