Unfortunately we made a reservation through the website and were directed to a third party site. I thought maybe something was up when I saw before we even left that we had already paid for the room on our Visa.
Six days before our reservation we had to cancel due to illness. Our attempt failed. Today, the day of our reservation we contacted the Hotel (1 613 382 2165) this is the number we should have used in making the reservation in the first place. They advised us that they could not do anything for us....PLEASE PEOPLE DO NOT USE THESE 3RD PARTY SITES TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATION.

Gananoque Inn is a historic property. The lobby maintains the historic feel while rooms are newly renovated (in a style similar to chain hotels, which seems like a bit of a missed opportunity). The Inn is in a good location walking distance to attractions and restaurants. It overlooks the river, so many of the rooms have lovely water views. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included.

Room tip: 3rd floor rooms will have best views

We reserved a third floor room, however, when we arrived they told us they only had a room in a detached property they call the "cottage". The room had a musty smell and looked pretty run down. We went back to the lobby and asked they checked again for a room in the main building. Lo and behold they did have the room we reserved on the third floor. The room had just been renovated and was ok. So make sure you reserve a newly renovated room at the time of reservation. Overall the price was high for the experience.

Room tip: Go for the main building, newly renovated rooms.

It’s a tired and sad hotel that surely in days gone by had a glorious past. It simply is not a $300 a night hotel (€270+ taxes $316)

Like so many say on here it is so over-priced for what it is. No, I didn’t complain - if Management can’t see grubby paintwork and windows / dirty sills at the main entrance … (first impressions) then no surprise they’re not going to vacuum the staircase carpets (which depressed me as I trundled up the steps with heavy case).

The room itself (306) was fine. There were some great staff doing a fine job (compensating for others who were not) … and sure the location is stunning…. but again waterside chairs are ‘shabby to following apart’ …

Gordon Ramsey would have a field day with his TV show here !

I suspect though that there is a sad story behind “The Rise and Fall of the Gananoque Inn”

Room tip: No lift - so guests expected to carry own cases up 3 levels (potentially) Don’t be fooled by the view - the inn is shabby and overpriced

This hotel is a scam. In our room, we found a Dirty bathroom, dirty sheets, worn off furniture. It is Extremely overpriced for what it is. And when ww asked for a refund, the manager did not bother to answer.
