Stayed for 2 nights in this lovely hotel to chill and relax after the madness of christmas. The hotel is stylish, with many modern features to give you a really comfortable stay.
Ate in bar on first night and food was good, staff very friendly. Bar got a bit noisy on saturday night, but didnt bother us and still had friendly atomosphere.
Good location, we managed to visit several villages and Southwold. Tip, book Enzo's in Southwold for a truly unique Italian resturant.
The tree lined entrance really sets the scene, and we are planning a return soon. Have also recomended to friends and family.

Hi Fran
Thank you for your feedback on your stay and I'm pleased you really enjoyed it. Our bar is very popular with residents and locals alike so does have a really good atmosphere, particularly at weekends.
come back and see us soon as we develop our new kitchen garden, marquee and bedrooms in 2016/17.
best wishes

Tonight was an opportunity to catch up with friends after a long time so we therefore had chosen a venue anticipating this would meet the expectations of the night.
The hotel has obviously had an enormous amount of work done to it and this was impressive. The reason though for our visit was to have dinner so we were then disappointed with our visit.
Our seating in the restaurant was in a busy kitchen to dining room corridor and had a constant passage of staff crossing between the two. Our food was only ok and I would suggest not the value of what was being charged. Service was timely and efficient but at no time did anybody check if our meal was ok and even when we paid the bill, again we were not able to offer feedback. Hence my trip advisor review.
I am afraid we will not be making a return visit which feels sad but with so much competition for food of better quality, lesser priced I have to vote with my feet.
I hope the hotel moves forward after so much investment.

This hotel has the potential to be very good, however they need to get the basics right.
Location - set in enough grounds so there is no noise from the main road. Not much else in the near surrounds except a pub at the end of the driveway. Grounds are good for a walk around, some work being done to grounds at back of hotel so a little unkempt.
Rooms - Coach house is set 10 meters from the main building, Décor is top notch with Wi fi, Bluetooth for music devices and built in speakers. TV with full sky (this wasn't working in one of the rooms) TV in bathroom (this wasn't working in any of the rooms) Sensor lights (very sensitive as every time you walked past the wardrobe they came on). Coffee maker, kettle, hairdryer. Toiletries in bathroom (but not one of everything in each room). Doors are very heavy and would do with having a door handle on the inside of the room to be able to open them. Rooms were spotlessly clean. Beds comfortable, Saturday evening there was no hot water and no heating in our rooms so was unable to have a bath (so unable to use the Jacuzzi facilities) or shower before dinner. Luckily the rooms seem to have held the heat from the morning so the rooms were not cold. This was rectified by the time we returned to the room after dinner and we were given a discount at checkout for the inconvenience.
Food - Do not eat here if you are a vegetarian. We called twice prior to arriving to check if there was sufficient choices and was assured there was. Bar menu had Macaroni cheese (such lazy cooking to include this on anything but a kids menu) or Pumpkin risotto. The soup of the day had a V next to it on the menu,( to denote vegetarian) and when asked what it was - Pea and HAM!!. The restaurant didn't fair much better Starter Mushroom pasta (pretty tasteless) Main course was basically a Vegetable spring roll (over £13 for a spring roll!!!) Also the soup of the day should really be called soup of the week as again is was Pea and Ham but this time a watered down version that had to be sent back as it was cold. We also requested on booking to be in the nicer, brighter part of the restaurant but was stuck in the back room, having to look at a painting that showed a cow with all the different cuts of meat on it...very disappointing when you have already advised them of your dietary requirements. The people in our group who ate meat said that their dishes were very good (except the cold soup) although they did eat from the bar menu both nights as this had a greater choice. The team did provide a complimentary drink for us which was appreciated, but not quite the same as having a decent meal.
Staff - overall pretty good, they did apologies for the shortcomings and most went about with a smile on their face.
Because of the food I would not go back to this hotel again, however if you do eat meat and if they can sort out the basics (and the hot water!!) then this would be a nice place to spend a night or two.

Hi Wooderham
Thank you for your feedback and apologies for the heating issue in particular on the Saturday night, which was between 3-6pm when our boiler temporarily went on strike. Our new menus in the restaurant and pub areas are both changing over the next fortnight and the vegetarian options (currently at 4) have very much been a focus as we want to really lift that experience in line with modern expectation. I'll be working with the kitchen on those other issues in order to improve your next visits experience, do let me know how we are getting on.
best wishes

My friends and I visited a few weeks ago and ate in the restaurant for dinner. We enjoyed a drink in the cocktail bar where we were offered menus to look at, I decided to go for the crab gratin to start, and my partner chose the classic prawn cocktail, they were both presented well and tasted even better! We both had the venison for main, while our friends went for the cote de boeuf, which was recommended by our waitress, who later introduced herself as Antonia. Whilst happy with our food choices, my partner and I looked on enviously at their meal! The setting was lovely, however the service made the visit for us, they are truly a credit to the restaurant. Will definitely be returning!

The room was decorated with stylish Fabrics a very large comfortable bed. We also had full Sky TV with racing channels included. The shower room was amazing with blue lighting that was changeable and could be dimmed. The spa bath was a real treat!
The atmosphere in the bar was very good with lots of real Ales on offer at very reasonable prices, we had Dinner in the bar and the local steaks were excellent!
The breakfast was delicious . The grounds were very well kept with beautifulily manicured hedges. Just wish we'd had time to explore properly!
We will definitely be making a return trip.

Room Tip: We had room one which was one of their suites it was amazing, Seventh Heaven.

Hi Maura and JV
Many thanks for your feedback and I'm really pleased you had a great stay. Our beef comes from a farm 80 yds away from your room (room 1,The Hasted suite) and we butcher on-site, so we are really proud of our exceptional, truly local produce.
Hopefully when you come back and explore, our new kitchen garden will be ready for exploration.
