“Nice Place to Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 February 2012

Stayed here with our two kids prior to a day of skiing at Mt. Washington. Had a two double beds basic room which was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was large, with a separate tub and shower. Counter space in the bathroom was not huge but was adequate. The little kitchenette had a good sized bar fridge, a microwave, bar sink, coffee pot and supplies, kettle and toaster, as well as dishes/cutlery/glasses etc. for four, and dish soap etc. No cooktop/stove or oven but that's fine for one night (the hotel website should probably specify what's in the kitchenette for people thinking they will have full cooking facilities for a longer stay). We did make our breakfast here. There was a little electric fireplace in the room even. The pool and hot tub were really warm (outdoor) and clean. The front desk staff was very pleasant. The hotel was not very busy so it was very quiet. Beds were pretty firm (ok for me).

We are a family of four who checked in this past weekend and stayed in a 1 bedroom suite. The room had only two towels when we had asked for more, we brought our dog and told them we were and needed a pet friendly room. We arrive and are chastised for bringing our dog. They finally put us in a dog friendly room but it took just over an hour. So we are relaxing and man was it noisy. their pool is supposed to close at 9pm but people were in it screaming until just after 10. then they are right beside a major road and all you hear through the night are sirens. So we get up in the morning and get a phone call at just after 10 to ask if we were checking out. This was beyond rude as we felt rushed and could not relax at all! I will never ever come here again and I will make sure no one I know comes here either!

Room Tip: Make sure they confirm in your reservation that they know you are bringing your dog.

Dear guest, I was very surprised to read your review and invite you to contact me directly at the hotel to discuss your stay. We are pretty firm about the pool closing time and have always been more than responsive to guest requests for extra towels. Your comment about a call regarding check-out time is also highly unusual. I would like to assure you we take our guests comfort very seriously and we strive to make every stay an exceptional one.

A group of us travelled here with our families, they are very children friendly allowing us to use the pool and the staff was extremely friendly. They would come to the room and help with any request, such as lighting the fire place and setting the flat screen TV's. The suites came with laundry facilities which really helped with trip. We would all strongly suggest this hotel for anyone staying in this area.

Room Tip: Rooms in the building with the lobby would be best for people wanting to be in the same building as...

My husband and I stayed 2 nights the Old House Hotel Dec 29th and 30th. We had a one-BR suite and it was just great. Very well-equipped, nice decor, quiet and really comfortable. We were both suffering from post-Xmas flu so we just hunkered down most of the time in our suite. Housekeeping staff were incredibly considerate. Hotel has an outdoor heated pool and indoor/outdoor hottubs. Was able to use the spa however it looked very nice. Hotel is a convenient location to everything in Courtenay. A really nice experience all-round.

Room Tip: One-bedroom suites are extremely comfortable and well-equipped.

We rented a deluxe studio here, just as a stop-over one night enroute to southern parts of the island. We had a king size bed that was very comfortable, kitchenette with table and chairs, fireplace and 2 leather chairs for fireplace/tv watching. The bathroom was clean and spacious. A small balcony overlooking the pool and hot tub area was nice to get fresh west coast air, and would have motivated us to hit the hot tub, had we had more time.

The check-in staff were very gracious and pleasant. They allowed us to just park anywhere, since we wanted to get to the restaurant before it closed.

We had a great rate for this room and would most definitely stay here again.
