Plain and simply not good! I'm tired after a long drive and hungry for a decent meal. Sadly, it wasn't here and nor will it ever be here again. Our first clue should have been that the place was deserted at 730 pm. I knew we should have turned tail and ran but I'm tired and hungry.
Let's start with the $18.75 plus tax beef dip. Overpriced by 25-35%. I asked the waitress (who was great by the way and got a nice tip albeit a bad meal), if the $20 beef dip was stellar, or was someone trying to get rich quick? Well it was the latter. The sandwich was not bad, but not good either, pretty skimpy actually. $18.75 for this was insane. We're talking about left over roast beef here. To make matters worse was the greasy, soggy fries. It was the classic deep fryer not hot enough scenario.
Then there's Mrs Chef's incinerated $16.50 burger. Absolutely nasty. A good burger should go edge to edge in the bun, not be this burnt little patty inside of a big bun with a heap of lettuce between. The salad she had with it was better, yet overdressed, but at least it had some good stuff in it.
The bottom line is that the prices are crazy high compared with what you get.
Either Golden or Revelstoke are usual stop off points in our travels from Alberta to BC and back again. The thing I notice most about these two places the most is that they're both overpriced, skiing, sledding, party towns. You have to look for good deals and Rockwater Grill & Bar is definitely not a great place for value or a decent meal.
