“Most excellent skiing experience you can wish for”
Reviewed 3 April 2012

I have been visiting Great Northern Snowcat since the mid 80's on almost an annual basis. Most times with a group of friends or family but also solo. Great Northern (GN) makes you feel at home at their lodge which only accommodates about 15 guests per week. This assures of a cozy lodge atmosphere where social interaction is easy. The meals are very good and are being served family style to the group at breakfast and dinner. Beats the Grand Central Station hectic of some other lodges which I have visited during the years.
GN. operates one cat for the guest (they have two). GN owner, guides and staff are terrific. They know their back country like the palm of their hands and you feel safe at all times, even when the snowpack at an odd period of a respective year can be a bit unsettled. If you love powder, you don't want to go back to your usual ski area after having
skied GN.

“A Classic Ski Trip - full of fresh pow and face shots.”
Reviewed 3 March 2012

We got the whole enchilada on our first ever Snow Cat Skiing experience. On our good friends advice we booked with Great Northern and got the cream of the crop, cozy lodge, expert guides, 1 snow cat (translates to our group was the only ones on the mountain), and plenty of fresh pow! Make sure you bring your camera and "gopro" to capture those moments and memories. We packed some casual clothes and house shoes for the lodge and doubles of everything where ski gear was involved. One guest had a blow out with his powder pants and didn't have a back up pair. Don't let that be you!

Great Northern has made a point to hold true to its bearings maintaining a good old fashioned prime ski experience in the back country of British Columbia. We had great snow and great lines each day, each run thanks to our guides and "mother nature". Furthermore, the group dining and game room invites interaction with the other guests and as we packed our gear to leave we left with great memories and new friends!

“Great Northern is a wonderfully exciting powder adventure!”
Reviewed 2 February 2012

Twenty two years ago my wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary by booking a powder ski experience with Great Northern. We haven't missed a year since and each year has been better than the previous. The "digs" are very comfortable & the foods great. Guiding is done with an eye to safety first but always gives the skier a challenging deep powder experience. It's not an area for the faint of heart. My wife & I are avid skiers, both working at Lake Louise for more than 25 years and we know good skiing when we see it. Great Northern has it all!

“Fantastic Stay”
Reviewed 15 May 2011

First time powder skiing. I took my 14 year old son with me. For the first day I was very grateful to have a tail-guide as well as the lead-guide: I needed assistance to get up from the deep powder. Also happy to have the benefits of her experience in terms of managing the deep powder. I also enjoyed the pace of the day: plenty of skiing with the relaxing trip back up in the cat. The experience was excellent in all aspects: the staff highly professional, the accommodations were fine, and the food of excellent quality.

“Deep powder, good friends - it doesn't get any better”
Reviewed 3 May 2011

For great powder skiing in a spectacular setting, Great Northern can't be beat. Personal care and attention is given to every detail in this small group setting, from comfortable facilities to five-star meals to a single snowcat group of skiers. This is skiing for purists, and it's pure heaven for snow and terrain quality. And unlike helicopters, there are no "down" days - we ski in all conditions and love it. Come ready to ski hard by day and just relax by night, and bring plenty of your own libations.
