Review of Fireside Tea Room

Fireside Tea Room
Ranked #17 of 106 Restaurants in Truro
Description: The Nova Scotian Emporium & Fireside Tearoom is located in the heart of Truro's downtown shopping district. Its embossed tin ceilings, wainscoting and hardwood floors are original to the c.1890 building. While enjoying lunch or dessert, take in the excellent array of giftware, kitchen gadgets, bedding, baby products, and fine Nova Scotia products in the gift shop on the adjacent two floors. We have an onsite bakery and do special orders/catering for any occasion. The Tearoom features soups made daily, fresh salads, seafood chowder, frittatas, specials and 'almost sinful' desserts baked daily in our own oven. We take great pride in offering you the freshest ingredients in our menu selections. For the tea enthusiast, we offer 15+ blends of teas, including several herbals.

While doing a walkabout in downtown Truro, we stumbled upon this spot. It combines a lovely tearoom and gift shop in one. We had tea (piping hot as it should be) and lovely scones. After tea, we browsed the shop and bought some additional items to take back home.
Great place for a "cuppa".

We took a day trip to NS from PEI and needed a place for lunch. Everything was delightful: tea, quiche, dessert...so good. We also enjoyed the shop!

Nice food, although we felt a bit rushed as it was towards the end of service and the servers wanted to get away.

Would go again, but earlier in the day.

Went there to use a gift card I had been given. Small place in the back of the NS Emporium. We had the curry soup, which was amazing. My husband had the lasagna with a salad. The lasagna was a large portion and light and not heavy. I had the quiche and salad, which was also great. The salad was mixed greens, tomatoes, peppers and a poppy salad dressing on the side. We also had carrot cake and the European cheesecake with raspberry sauce. Both were homemade and delicious. My only disappointment was that the crab cakes were all sold out.

I had the frittata for lunch on Saturday. It was a fair portion and had good flavour. It was, however, heated in a microwave and was a bit damp. Came with 2 slices of toast. I was left a bit hungry so would order a side-salad to go with it next time.

My wife had a quesadilla and side-salad and she loved it. Best quesadilla ever, she said:)
