Although I'm writing this two years after the fact, we had a wonderful trip to Alberta. Thanks to Carmelo and Anneke's expert advice about seeing things off the beaten track, e.g., Kananaskas, Lake Moraine, Salmon River, Adams River (B.C.) where we saw nature at its finest. So many unexpected surprises on the drive to Vancouver like rainforests, salmon spawning and lakes so pristine to reflect the snow-capped mountains in Kananaskas. The stay at the inn was better than expected; we took the basement two rooms (our friends in one, us in the other, each with private full baths). The breakfasts were amazing, Carmelo and Anneke so eager to please, making breakfasts featuring fresh banana breads, muffins and rolls (baked by Anneke), main courses made by Carmelo -- to order, but best of all were their conversations and advice. Thank you, and sorry about the late review!

My husband and I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts throughout North America and abroad, and none has been more wonderfully welcoming than Stella Alpina. When we first stayed with Anneke and Carmelo a couple of years ago, we were visiting Banff to explore the possibility of moving there for a professional opportunity. Our hosts made us feel instantly at home--so much so that we could really envision living there! Although we didn't end up doing so, we were fortunate to be able to return for a second, work-related visit this past May. Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, this time feeling like we were visiting old friends. Clearly, we're not alone in this sense, as many of the guests we encountered during both visits had stayed with Anneke and Carmelo before. Somehow, these nature-loving hosts strike a unique balance between attentiveness and giving guests the space they need to relax. Their comfortable rooms reflect the truly "green" spirit with which they live their lives; recycled materials abound, and the delicious homemade breakfasts feature locally foraged mushrooms, garden-grown pesto, house-smoked salmon, and other such thoughtful ingredients. One evening, in describing his childhood in a small Italian village, Carmelo reminisced that "there were no big supermarkets—if you wanted something, you went out and found it." Fortunately for their guests, he and Anneke are willing to share their culinary treasures each morning! And they’re also a wealth of information for those who are interested in hiking, skiing, or otherwise exploring Banff’s magical mountain scenery. In a nutshell, I cannot imagine a more appealing home away from home—which is why we’ll be staying at Stella Alpina again during our vacation this summer!

We stayed 4 nights (we stayed one night longer as planned)in may at stella alpine b&b.
What can I say. It was wonderful. We had the bellavista room.
The room is big as is rhe bathroom. With jacuzzi.
Breakfast is something special. Ofcourse the salmon omelettes
from Carmello. The owners give you very good info on what to see and do. We visit Kannaskis County, which was beautiful.
It was the owners advice. They will do anything to help you.
We liked the dog also.
Again Anneke and Carmello you are doing a great job.
Thanks for everything.
PS We will deliver the to your aunt this week Anneke.
We can say: stay here and you will have a great time.

We just returned from a stay at this wonderful B and B. Their home is located a two minute walk to Main Street with excellent restaurants and shopping - but it's on a quiet residentail street. We enjoyed their enthusiasm and knowledge of the area, the great breakfast, gorgeous room (with a large bathroom), interesting decor and view of the mountains (I could see them from bed!). There was another family there with a baby who apparently cried part of the night - we couldn't hear a thing from our room. I would definitely stay here again.

Just enough privacy with the warmth of people who love what they do and do it very well!
