I read other trip advisor reviews so I knew what to expect. It is very economical for around 6 people. My wife and I stayed with three friends (5 people) and found it comfortable. It had 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The kitchen included a dishwasher which was nice to have for clean up. I am writing this review before final check out but the bill should be around $140 as we are in the off season. We chose to stay in the Cougar Chalet which is close to the road but furthest from the train as I am a light sleeper. In the master bedroom (king sized bed) I did not really hear the train. My friends did but said they had no problems sleeping.

The chalet itself was a little dated and warn out but felt like a home.

Room Tip: Choose the cougar chalet it is furthest from the train

For less than $100( including taxes), we got a nice 3 bedroom chalet within easy walking distance of "downtown" Canmore. The complex's hot-tub was very nice after a day of hiking in Banff. It's right next to the train tracks, so if you're a light sleeper you may need earplugs or make some other arrangement. Personally, I didn't find it bothersome. Our unit( and possibly others) had one quirk. After 2 days the power went off in the main bathroom. When I checked the power box to see if I needed to flip a breaker, there was a note on the panel identifying this specific problem and giving the (easy) fix.

All in all, a nice, affordable property in an excellent location, I'd stay here again.

We just spent 2 nights in a Cougar Chalet (3 bdrm, 7 Adult 1 Child). Read all reviews before booking, and let me tell you, all have some accurate comments, bad and good. This place is rated 2 stars, so do not expect 5. the unit we were in had newer laminate and carpet. Had all necessary accessories in kitchen, the place was clean. Pluses were: 2.5 bathrooms, sleeps 8, kitchen and dining space, cheap (way under $200 a night). Minuses: Parking (small Spaces), Train runs all night (masterbed, and couch do not hear them if facing the street), only one tv. If you are not picky, this place will help save you money while having a fanatastic view. Note: My wife is a very particular lady and she loved this place. Great for Families. Tip: They will match posted travel website prices, then you don't have to pay up front.

Room Tip: Ask to face the main road. Minimizes train noise. Bear Dens are in the basement suite and the couga...

We decided to break up our journey back to the airport and as we had already spent some time in Banff, opted for this cheap chalet in Canmore. First impressions were OK. We stayed in one of the lower level Bear Dens. The living room and kitchen area was quite dingy but the bedrooms open up to a small patio and are really light. But if your after 'character', this place isn't for you. It's quite old fashioned, and plain and basic.

It wasn't until we came back after dinner that we realised why it was so cheap - the train track is about 20 metres away and long freight trains pass through all night, what seemed like every half hour or so. This factor alone lowered my ratings on value and sleep quality. There was no mention of this on the internet booking but perhaps we should have read some reviews first!

If you're after budget accommodation and are likely to be out until late, this is probably good enough. But if you want a serious nights sleep, book somewhere else!
