Stopped in for breakfast, and was delighted to see the walls covered in photos and ephemera from the original owners and the WW2 soldier father of the current owner. Ordered the Hilltop Breakfast, and couldn't finish the big plate of food: real hash browned potatoes, beans, fluffy scrambled eggs, six slices of toast, and a huge Ukrainian sausage. Great coffee to go along with it. Nice banter with some of the regular customers made a newbie feel at home. Friendly and fast service all the way. Bought an in-store made pie to take home for dessert!

I know it's been a few months, but I had to thank you for such a great review. That Hilltop Breakfast sure is tough to finish, huh? And glad you got to enjoy a pie, too! We always think no meal is complete without it. We'd love to see you the next time you're in town, so come back soon!

Ciao,
Andrea Zaiser, Owner

Great little spot in the tradition of the roadside cafe. Great burgers and the pie selection is really very good. Great little place to drop into when you are in the area :)

I've heard from the egg bennies and the hash browns are good-that's right good. I've read comments on tripadvisor and it looked interesting. We arrive for lunch - somehow think that it should have been diner eggs bennie would have been the way to go. We order beef dip sanwich - the dip was packaged and nothing but salt - no flavour. But the big surprise was the hot dog bun which is incorrect and a really bad chocie of bread for this style sandwich. An absolute first - this is a BASIC NO-NO. The bun must be able to handle the dip and the thing fell apart. A miserable faux pas and a stupid application. Weird choice. If you ran out of the proper bread then simply do not serve it. I could see that there may be needs to sut corners - but given your prices of approx at @ $10 per sandwich -there is simply no excuse. The other item was a clubhouse with cranberry chutney for an extra cost. Okay, turkey, bacon, tomatoe (of unknown age), cheese. The chutney was almost absent, the bread was abundant and stale -wa this the 1st clubhouse served - no! This coffee shop opened around 1946 I believe and I am sure the quality/quantity is a vaste departure. The prices are as high or higher than the tourist cafes located in the touristy coffee shop located in the west end, robson street or even east van/commerical drive are cheaper and fresher. The pies are provided thru krause berry farm (frozen but good) and homemade - ie the pecan pie which was more like a bourbon pie with 8 or so pieces of pecan nuts. Not a great recipe. The lemon merange was enjoyed. But should this lunch for 2 of approx $60 before tax gives pause for thought. Lets hope the next occassion, if there is one, the experience is considerably improved. There is a lot of room for remedying their approach.
As a side not perhaps we can dispense w/the 4 fellows discussing 'working girls'- rednecks are to be found anywhere - don't be surprised to be exposed to this ilke. Also perhaps checking for coffee refills you could offer additional creamers?

I am sorry we didn't meet your standards on your visit to the Hilltop Diner. However, to set the record straight.... we do not use hot dog buns, never have - never will. We use Hoagie (or Beef Dip if you prefer) buns. They and our vegetables are brought in fresh almost daily. I'm sorry you did not enjoy your sandwich, perhaps there is something else for you on the menu, but perhaps not, no restaurant can be everything to everybody. We do have a very loyal following and our customers are some of the nicest people out there. We do not, however, sensor conversations. I have from time to time asked people to dial down their language if they are being offensive or if people complain to me. Good luck on your search for your perfect restaurant. And thank you for taking the time to review us. All opinions are greatly appreicated, whether we agree with them or not.

Funky little diner located in a small building on the Fraser Highway between Langley City and Aldergrove. Open for breakfast and lunch only. Very popular with the locals. The food and service is good. Our sandwiches were made with thick cut bread and the ingredients were like Mum used to make. Fun place to visit.
