“Sweet little cottage with a great view”
Reviewed 21 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This is a great base, the cottage is small but perfectly formed. It is immaculately kept and has all the services you need. It is quiet and has a feel of seclusion, with a great view over the rolling hillside, but attached to the farm also means if you need help or there is a problem someone would be on hand (although we never needed anything during our stay). Would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

“A cosy country retreat”
Reviewed 31 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We had a wonderfully relaxing break, at the cosy Cheese Press Cottage. We just wish it had been winter, so we could have lit the wood burner! We enjoyed the peace and quiet, and were greatly amused by the ducks racing outside the front door, as well as visits from the chickens and dogs. We were delighted that there is a shower over the bath (which we couldn't see in the photos of the cottage, nor see mentioned in the description).

The cottage is well equipped, with lovely original features. We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio, with sheep and cows the only noises audible, as well as watching some beautiful sunsets. The cottage has plenty of local information. We can highly recommend the Cheese Shop and Village Stores in Hartington, as well as cycling along the High Peak Trail, catching a steam train into Matlock, and visiting Poole's Cavern in Buxton.

We were very grateful for Jane's directions (warning us that our SatNav would send us the wrong way), as well as her efficiency at responding to emails. We received a lovely warm welcome, but were then left alone and given absolute privacy, so the cottage very much became 'ours' during our stay.

Following our return home, we really miss the seclusion and peace. Everywhere suddenly seems so busy, and so full of people!

A perfect stay-thank you!

Thank you for lovely review and I'm so pleased you had a nice few days exploring the area. I still haven't done the steam train so that is something I must do soon.
Thank you for mentioning about the shower and I will amend my descriptions and also take a better photo of the bathroom.
I also don't think there is a photo of the table in the sitting room so I need to get the camera out again!
