Stopped by for lunch with friends. Got a table outside and it was a really nice area where you can look out onto the duck pond. We managed to squeeze five people on two tables.
The menu was fairly different from other cafes, it had more Asian style items like the beef kebabs.
Went with the chicken schnitzel. The portions were a bit smaller than expected. The flavour was alright but the schnitzel wasn't as crispy as I was expecting.
The service was quite good. They even let us move inside when there was room to get away from the sun then it was getting too hot.
Nice place for a fairly quick bite and the location is a plus too.

Despite us arriving as they were closing they were still happy to serve us and seat us at one of their tables.

We both had the orange cake which was moist and delicious, very good service and picturesque setting.

So while visiting this lovely setting today we came across a very busy place with functions taking place. Immediately staff were stretched enormously but never regained themselves. Coffee wasn't great. The person at the counter with a lovely accent this morning was soooo rude! Bathrooms are SO awkwardly located so when there is a function - how do you get around!? I have ordered a chicken burger. Paying a $20 for a burger I expected 'big things'. I am sorry to say it was smaller than a side sauce plate that came with it. It was juicy but burger didn't stay together- it was falling apart and the side aioli sauce tasted like whipped egg. Sadly a dissatisfied visit!

Went here on a sunny day for a lunch with 3 friends. We had not booked and were prepared to just try our luck knowing that it could be too busy for us. We got there at 11.30am. Although very busy as we had thought they were able to find us a little table outside which we were most grateful for. That's where our luck ran out. They were just too busy. It took ages for our waitress to come back to us to take our orders. Then ages for our orders to arrive. One of our mains was incorrect. We were told that we would not have to pay for the error at the till due to it being the waitress' fault. Then one of the desserts arrived incorrectly as well. This time the waitress chose to fight with us as to whose fault it was. 4 of us had heard the order correctly, she was the only one who argued it had been ordered the other. Whatever happened to the customer is always right! Went to pay and the bill had not been changed as our waitress had promised it would be to reflect the inaccuracies in the order. What could have been a nice lunch which we were grateful to be squeezed in, appreciating they were busy, turned into something not so nice due to staff being rude.

We had a pleasant Good Friday lunch, seated outside. My impression is that Auckland prices are quite high but that may be because I am calculating prices in pounds sterling. With the ''holiday'' 15% surcharge, lunch here was just a tad expensive but I must say we all enjoyed the food. Sat outside and enjoyed the warm weather, we ordered a selection of bagels and drank a beer. At NZ$ 10 a pop perhaps that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Service was good. No complaints other than the perception of it being quite an expensive lunch for what we had.
