From the drive up the driveway, I knew we were in for something special. The house is beautifully nestled away from the road, surrounded by beautiful landscape. Once you open the front door, you step into greatness. This house offers four wonderful, spacious bedrooms with their own bathrooms. My husband and I and our two adult boys stayed at this house. Not once did I feel cramped, that we were all living on top of each other. The kitchen/living area is extremely charming. I love that you can cook, yet still be involved with the family. The kitchen is just the right size to do anything you would like to do. The cozy fireplace made my husbands dreams come true of sitting fireside while being able to drink in the outside landscape by having the patio doors open. This house will be on my list to rent again. I will be back! The town of Oldcastle is the perfect place to have your home base while sightseeing in Ireland. It is picturesque to say the least. It has just enough eating establishments and grocery options to keep you going. The local pubs are not to be missed. If you were lucky like us, you just may stumble upon an impromptu concert in a pub. Patrick was an awesome host, and is there to help any time you need it. You will not be disappointed by renting this house. I hope to be back year after year.
This is a fantastic place to stay, great accommodation and well placed for Dublin, Belfast and a whole host of other locations. We stayed just over a week and Patrick couldn't have been more helpful. Gave good advice on placed in the local area to visit, told us about events that were happening locally, and generally made the stay a pleasure. We had the benefit of hot weather but there are also things to keep you occupied in the house with a good selection of books, DVDs and CDs. Would highly recommend.
Thank you, Patrick, for a very relaxing holiday week in your house.
With two families we have enjoyed the generous hospitality in this guesthouse. With a lot of taste and skill, this old stable became a cozy retreat redesigned.
There was nothing missing - it was much more.
Ein sehr großzügiges, gemütliches Haus mit einem angenehm bemühten Gastgeber in der Nachbarschaft.
We stayed at Glenboy for 10 days while in the area visiting our son and family. We couldn't have asked for more comfortable accommodation, it truly felt like a home not a holiday rental. The owner Patrick was warm and welcoming and on hand when we needed him but otherwise unobtrusive. The house is clean and beautifully furnished with very large comfortable beds and modern ensuite bathrooms. The kitchen and adjoining sunroom is spacious and the perfect place to relax after a long day. The wide selection of books, music, games and movies was a lovely addition. The rural setting is peaceful yet you are only a few minutes drive from the town of Oldcastle, where we found all the necessities, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants etc. For anyone not familiar with the area, the ancient megalithic tomb of Loughcrew is not to be missed- it is truly awe inspiring and the panoramic views are worth the climb to the top. We would definitely recommend Glenboy to anyone looking for a country break in a beautiful part of Ireland.
Glenboy became the groom's house for our sons wedding and it was perfect.
We had family and friends stay with us over a week and the accommodation could not be faulted. All rooms ensuite and plenty of bedding and towels.
Kitchen well equipped. We even had a barbeque for about 20 people.
Owner Patrick very helpful and warm homemade bread on table when we arrived was a nice touch.
Oldcastle has everything you need in terms of provisioning and interesting pubs. Don't miss Owen Tranors behind the shop!
