My wife and I planned a getaway to the Avalon Lodge last year and could not have been more pleased. The lodge is set in a picturesque part of the Lake Tahoe area and you simply can't look anywhere without wanting to take a picture. The rooms were great - very comfy and well kept.

But even better was the staff. They did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and make us feel welcome. Our dogs loved it and settled right in as well. My wife and I are bigger people, but we felt completely at home and had no issues with any of the amenities.

We look forward to heading back the next chance we get!

Room Tip: There really isn't a bad view from what we could tell. I would just say to book early so you can...

For $109 plus taxes a night, and dog friendly, this place is excellent. Nice, crisp, high thread count white sheets, with the blanket wrapped in a sheet as well, so you KNOW it's clean, hooks to hang your ski gear, small table and two chairs, nice smelling soap and other amenities as well as a full size hair dryer in the bathroom--Whoever runs this place knows what is important to travelers. The bed is a tad soft (better than too hard) and the bathroom, while stylishly redone, was cold, and not great water pressure. The heating by fire is charming, as was the staff we encountered in our brief stay. Nice touches--mulled wine was offered as we arrived, and the gratis breakfast simple but of good quality and early (starts at 7) was appreciated by those who like to get first tracks. For this price, we would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for the kind words regarding our property and staff! We feel that we can be dog friendly while at the same time still providing the quality amenities, service, and cleanliness that you might not find elsewhere. And yes, we triple sheet! We know what it's like to travel with your pup and understand what it takes to make your whole family feel welcome. The fireplaces certainly add a warm touch to the rooms after a long day on the slopes. Thank you for the heads up on water pressure- we found some of the hardware needed tightening- and we will check on the room you stayed in! We hope you come back to visit with the dogs again soon! Don't forget to use your 5% returning guest coupon!

My husband and I bought a Groupon for a 4 night deal for our 20 year anniversary. We flew from Florida and have never been to this side of the country. When we arrived here Lake Tahoe had a major storm and we pulled in the parking area and were stuck immediately in the snow. Being Floridians we don't know how to drive in snow. The staff came out and helped dig us out and threw salt out. They were very friendly and willing to help us in any way. The room was very nice and clean. The bed was amazing!! If you come to ski use Black Tie Ski Rental they came to our beckon call. I had an issue with my boot the first day and they came to me in 10 minutes. They were GREAT!! We found this amazing pizza place Blue Dog Pizza we ate there 2 nights in a row, it was that good. Try out Burger Lounge on Emerald Bay recommended by Rachel Ray. My husband loved it but I have had better burgers.

Margo and Donnie,

We at the Avalon wanted to say thank you for your positive review and for choosing us for your first time to Tahoe! You came at the perfect time- endless powder and bluebird skies! We know that travel in and out of Tahoe can be tricky during this time, which is why our staff is trained to help any guest they see struggling. I know that Jenna certainly enjoyed helping you dig out! We have a great staff here that always goes above and beyond to make our guests’ stay more enjoyable. Comfort and cleanliness are two of our strongest points of emphasis and I am glad to see that both areas were up to our standard! We really enjoyed your stay and hope that you’ll visit us again in the future using your 5% returning guest coupon. If you enjoyed your trip in the winter, you should check out the summer in Tahoe!

We stayed in late Feb. 2012 and enjoyed this place very much. Very helpful staff, brand new rooms, extremely comfortable beds in a very convenient location. The Heavenly lift is two blocks in one direction and the beach is two blocks the other way. Breakfast was simple but enough unless your the eggs and bacon type. Only drawbacks were the lack of views, limited seating for breakfast, and we heard noise one night when another guest was playing music in their room. They claimed the walls were soundproofed but not that night. I would recommend this unless you want a view and a restaurant type breakfast......

Room Tip: ask for a room on the top floor

Rob,

Thank you for the great review! We’re glad you enjoyed your stay with us! Our staff goes above and beyond to make everyone’s stay memorable and enjoyable and we’re glad that you felt this way about them. I know they enjoyed spending time with your family. We’re sorry you were subject to the noise of your neighbors. We have soundproofed the hotel, but sometimes a loud guest can affect others. We have shared this with the staff and continue to patrol the grounds to keep unusually loud noise down. We appreciate your feedback.

Joe and Julie,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and the great review. We agree that we have one of the best locations in Tahoe and a staff that is second to none. I know that our staff certainly enjoyed your visit and assisting to help plan your trip. We think our in room amenities such as fluffy towels and robes are an elegant touch to make your stay more enjoyable. We hope you get a chance to return to Tahoe soon- I know that the Mrs. wants to ski her second powder day! Thank you and take care!
