As has been said before the views are stunning. That pretty much is it I'm afraid.

I agree with a previous comment about the Manager being miserable. Blanked us whilst we were checking in. Drove past us when we were slogging back up the Hill to the Hotel. Funnily enough he became our best friend on our last full day. He clearly wanted to let our room out to another family but we were going to Nidri and weren't going to check out until 12:00. He offered to drive us down the hill to wait for a coach! He then said he had arranged a shared transfer with another British family ( we were the only British there). These options would mean leaving at 8:00am and he said he'd spoken to our Tour Operator about them. We rang them and they knew nothing about it at all. As we didn't fancy being stranded with luggage and 2 young kids we told him we'd arranged our own transfer.

The two staff running the Pool Bar were great and the young guy running the Restaurant was very good as well.

Again I have to agree with a previous comment. Meal times are are an eye opener. As soon as something fresh is brought out people charge to grab as much as possible. People were wrapping food in serviettes and putting in their bags for the rest of the day.

The Pool area is ok and most people staying here seem to have driven so go out for the day. We regularly had the poo, to ourselves until mid afternoon.

Agios Nikitas was too busy in August for us but it is a beautiful place. We enjoyed our 2 weeks in Nidri far more and were happy to get away from that Hill. That Hill is an issue and we saw several older people struggling back.

Room Tip: Don't go if you have mobility issues.

Santa Marina should be chosen first and foremost for the extraordinary view of the Ionian Sea. It is a standard 3 * hotel, spacious rooms, floor with tiles, large beds with wooden counter and big mattress, balcony / terrace. It is a typical Greek hotel, clean but you do not expect luxury. Lux is found when you go down to the beach and when you enter the extraordinary ionic sea ... that's the luxury of staying on the island.

Breakfast is fine and tasty, completed with an extraordinary view of the village of Agios Nikitas. At Santa marina you can have breakfast and dinner, but i do not recommend dinner If you get here, go and dine at the taverns of Agios Nikitas, it is a unique and authentic experience.

This top view comes with a minus: you have to go down to reach the beach.
A small beach awaits you in Agios Nikitas and a bigger one (on the left side you can reach it by the forest = 10 min or with the boat = 2 minutes, Milos Beach-extraordinary beach). Approximately 4 km is the Kathisma Beach (I think the most animated on the west side, very good ).
Then you go further south you meet the most beautiful beaches: Megali Petra (11 km from Ag Nikitas), Gialos beach (the longest, 23 km from Ag Nikitas), the famous Poto Katsiki beach (30 km from Ag Nikitas) and, of course, the famous, extraordinary and incredible Egremni beach !!! I dom't think I saw anything more beautiful and natural in my life!! The water has a turquoise blue, clear, divine. Believe me, the photos you meet on the internet do not bring reality. You have to go see it live!!!

I recommend you to reach the southern part of the island - the head of Doukato (fwhere Aphrodite threw into the water for Adonis ... or at least, so it is said:)) being followed by poet Sappho) and, continuing on the way, you will reach the villageVassiliki - ideal for water sports (wind blows pretty, the beach is golden, the color of water becomes green).

On the eastern side of the island I'm not talking, because I do not recommend it at all!

My husband and I were guests for 10 days at the Santa Marina Hotel. The setting is stunning with views down to the bay and the village where there is a good choice of restaurants and a couple of supermarkets and the pine forests on one side of the hotel.
The island is very pretty ,lovely beaches especially on the western side of the island, a very green island with some interesting hill top villages.Other guests have mentioned the fact that the hotel is up a hill ,this is a huge advantage being that the views are amazing and peace and quiet reigns! All the staff were so hardworking, very friendly and courteous- the 2 front of house managers very professional and helpful, breakfast staff always friendly and very efficient, the pool bar manager who set the pool alight at night with his beautiful display of floating lanterns always friendly and polite, the restaurant manager very hard working with a great sense of humour not forgetting the cook who produced simple but wholesome fresh food every evening and great reception staff and house keeping who always cleaned our room to a high standard. We hired a car for 7 days ( the hotel has a large car park) which enabled us to explore the island and the roads were mainly very good - necessary if you enjoy getting out and about on holiday. We had a great ,relaxing holiday ,Thankyou to all the very hard working staff we hope you all have a good well deserved rest yourselves.

Room Tip: High floor

Basic accommodation, but clean. Very thin walls, so easy to hear what is going on next door! Not enough drawers and only 5 hangars. Great view from the balcony towards the mainland. Very nice, clean, warm pool. Staff friendly and efficient, especially the lady at the pool bar. Manager was a bit miserable. Breakfast was OK, but exactly the same every day. As Helen C said the people from the Balkans and E Europe really got stuck into the buffet breakfast and filled bags with food for the day, especially croissants. Two families took about 50 croissants, most of which went into bags.
It took about 5 minutes to walk down to the village and about 20 to walk back up a steep hill. If you go to Milos Beach, take the boat- 3 Euros each. It takes about 40 minutes to walk OVER the headland.
