I have been to Cucina della Lodola for a family dinner in June 2017. The food was a surprise; it will be in my memory for a long time as the host comes to explain the different recipes based on locally grown ingredients whose preciousness and slickness where with few similarities elsewhere. Great wine as well and also a mention to the structure: it was a small plant in the past; now it has been upgraded and renovated to be a restaurant: open kitchen, a wooden patio, local art works hanging around; all of this ensure an trendy and fancy atmosphere to enrich the food served.

We had the most amazing experience at this restaurant. The chef/owner,Carlo, was so passionate about his food it was hard not to get excited. We were fortunate he was working the front of the house and that it was not very busy (because it was right after a holiday), so we had him as our server! He insists on using local ingredients and has created an innovative menu, something you would expect in NYC. Every course was plated so beautifully it was a work of art, and tasted every bit as good as it looked.
The little touches like the mini house made buns in a wooden box, the complementary apple cider, and the spiced nuts served to make the experience extra special.
The restaurant is a little hard to find but is set in a totally renovated warehouse. It is quite modern and quirky and it works in this old building. I loved the decor and the overall atmosphere. Chef Carlo's brother did the design and also has a leather studio there.

The decor has a nice design and a good lay out. The style is modern but warm and welcoming. A change from the traditional dark wooden beams and bricks. The service is friendly, discreet and attentive. The kitchen is run by a quatuor of lovely young ladies really talented. They manage to give a fresh touch to Tuscan traditional cuisine. Ingredients are carefully selected, dishes are raised aesthetically, flavours and aromas are delicate. The wine list, however, could be improved. Very good impression in general.

A fabulous dining experience in a beautifully created atmosphere. Casual, yet extraordinary in design, execution and taste. From the warm welcome by chef Carlo and his staff, to the amazing and friendly service from Lisa, with her impeccable english descriptions (including Brtish accent), everything abou this restaurant excels. You will not have a meal like this from anywhere else in Tuscany. Traditonal ingredients, mostly organic and local, cooked with a modern flare. A complimentary taste of apple cider was unexpected; delicate and fresh and a wonderful intro served with a small box of flavoured roasted almonds. We ordered the deconstructed Ribolle (Ribollita) that you eat with a fork, not a spoon. Exquisitely presented and flavourful with each bite. An amazing starter! For mains, we ordered the 3 bomboloni, aka doughnuts, but filled with 3 savoury fillings; one tomato-based, one straticcelli-based and one spinach-based. The contrast with the slightly sweet dough made these sliders delightful. Also, the risotto with mini beef cubes and white truffle was exceptional. For dessert, the fruit medley with a crumb base and compote was delightful, and the chocolate surprise (filled with a creamy mix) with ganache was very decandent. Descrioptions do not give justice to the level of care taken to create these dishes. Chef Carlo has some serious street cred on display. Treat yourself here, you will not be sorry to take the effort to find this place, as it is off the beaten path and not so easy to find. Use Google maps as GPS will likely not steer you here correctly.

We visited the restaurant on Friday night and the owner Carlo recommended fish as Friday's specials. He talked us through each dish from the menu and all individual ingredients. We loved this personal service and casual chat with the owner. For our meal we chose mussels antipasti, steak tartar antipasti, fish pasta and fish dish as our main followed by fig dessert. The presentation was outstanding, art on a plate! All ingredients were carefully selected to compliment each other in all dishes we tried. It was definitely one of the best meals we've ever had. The rule of the chef is to use only seasonal ingredients in his dishes. The decor is quirky and modern and the place has a brilliant vibe to it. Music was also excellent, played Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennet, which adds to the complete experience.
