The best thing about this place is the view from the lobby. Its simply amazing. What will remain with me though is the pleasing service here. Smiles all around, courteous and always ready to help !
We stayed in the superior charm rooms. What could have been better is if we were informed earlier that the privacy levels at these rooms aren't good. Its never nice to hear people talking loudly from an adjacent room.

Wouldn't advise staying in the superior charm rooms.
Coming to the food, the breakfast spread was excellent. However, ala Carte(lunch and dinner) was disappointing for the vegetarians.

Despite all this, I would still strongly recommend this place. Thats simply because of the fab service!

Room tip: Do not go for the Superior charm rooms unless you like to hear ppl speaking in the adjacent room!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your amazing review.

We are delighted to learn that you and your family enjoyed your stay with us and that the facilities provided met your expectations.

I would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused due to the disturbance from adjacent room. We have revisited our internal process of room allotment so as to avoid any kind of disturbance to our guests

We have noted that your dissatisfaction with regards to the selection of food. I have taken this matter with Executive Chef , May I assure you that we will keep this in consideration during revision of In room dining menu. Meantime, it would always be our pleasure to recommend dishes beyond the regular menu on request. Hope this will not mar your otherwise a favorable opinion about us.

Your generous praise of our performance will be a source of inspiration and encourage us to achieve even higher standards.

We all look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back.

Best Regards

This is a place you should definitely visit if you are visiting Coorg. The rooms are luxurious, the grounds are beautiful and the food is fantastic. Everyone was very helpful and friendly and the staff in the dining room provided service beyond compare.

Reaching to the hotel from Manglore airport is headache due to extremely bad roads. Kills all excitement. After a very tiring journey you are welcomed with nice weather and good view in the hotel.
Food is excellent, but found hair in the food twice. which was badly entertained.
There are very few things which you can enjoy around in the resort.
Last day of was a disaster as there was bandh called up in the area which was known to the hotel but was not informed to us. As a result we had to stay an extra day in the hotel costing us more. This service we did not expect from TAJ.

Room tip: Indulgence cottage are good deal.

How do rate a hotel that gets so much wrong in the first 24 hours and then makes a really spectacular effort to put things right?

There was point when this was definitely going to be a one star review. Here's a few of the bad experiences: no hot water in the shower ( they told us we'd have to wait a while for it to come through but after five minutes I was wet and cold and still no hot water - no bath robe to keep warm while I waited, but they promised to send one - after three calls and 45 minutes still no hot water or bathroom and VERY COLD -evening temperatures are low here - finally they changed a battery somewhere underground and the water arrived); neither of the 2 telephones working, except in unreliable hands-free mode); no offering to organise beds, towels etc at the outdoor pool, despite a dozen of more personnel preparing for the evening poolside restaurant service; no keys for lockers in the indoor pool and no towels anywhere to be seen (we for a half hour swim squeezed between lunch and a guided cycle ride but by the time the keys and towels arrived, we had only five minutes left!); one of the girls on the front desk promised to investigate the situation regarding a strike at the nearby elephant camp but, having found out the answer, went home for the day without telling us or any of her colleagues the answer.... I could go on. Much of this, you might take in your stride, if you it were a little country homestay. But this is not only a would-be five star hotel, but one that proudly tells you it's been voted one of the top five in Asia!!

But then the front office manager got wind of our experience and came to see us, telling us he didn't want anyone leaving his hotel unhappy, He organised a special thai "gala" dinner for us with the head chef discussing every course with us to suit out tastes; he, the manager, personally drove us everywhere in his own buggy (the usual mode of transport for everyone in this widely spread, steeply hilly property); he organised an early morning trek with their senior naturalist and a personalised visit to the small but excellent museum devoted to Coorg culture and generally treated us like visiting presidents. Nobody in my experience has ever worked so hard to recover from a low position, so whatever the mishaps, I can only admire this.

I must add that the property itself is one of the most amazing designs that I've stayed in and the food and restaurant service were at all times outstanding, with a really personal touch in the restaurants, even before they were all instructed to go into top gear!

We also had great cycle ride with an excellent guide, called Deepkul.

So all in all, I look forward to returning and can only imagine that our bad initial experiences were untypical.

Room tip: standard rooms are fine - the supplement for the category with an additional rather dark sitting room with potential for an open fire was rather redundant

WOW...you will be mesmerized the moment you step into the lobby after the end-less drive. The welcome Coorg-coffee was different & refreshing. I kept gazing at the beautiful view, while checking-in. Acres & acres of greenery all around.

One floor down in the main building block is the indoor temperature controlled pool with Jacuzzi, again with the same breath-taking view. Further down is the Spa and the relaxing room. Book for spa treatment as soon as you check-in, as it is heavily booked. Must have the Herbal Tea in the relaxing room with open windows, an altogether a different experience.

There is a Bar & Coffee-shop names Fern Tree with excellent food, great service - friendly and courteous staff. They have one more open-air swimming pool with a barbecue restaurant. We had some great veg-kebabs at night with bonfire.

The Bungalow style spacious rooms are exceptional with all the amenities and huge bathrooms. The view being the common factor. The golf carts ('Buggies' as they call it) are available round the clock.

There are loads of activities, I did Zip-lining in the jungle which was awesome. The forest-walk is also very good. Plucking & eating fresh strawberries from the fields was an experience in itself.

Room tip: Room Nos 501 to 506 and 107 have a very good view. The pvt pool villas are beautiful, but the view is not that good.
