“Thank you for letting us stay in this little gem”
Reviewed 19 February 2013 for a stay in December 2012

We spent a wonderful Christmas in this delightful cottage. Such a peaceful location and the beach has to be seen to be believed!
The property had everything we needed and was lovely and warm. We loved spending time in Rye a beautiful town and bought lots of goodies to cook back at the cottage.
Thank you for letting us stay in this little gem. Happy New Year!

“A little disappointing given previous reviews”
Reviewed 13 January 2013 for a stay in December 2012

The house is in a great location for the beach, perfect for popping back and forwards . The house is also very well equipped and modern. However it really felt like we were travelling out of season. We arrived on an exceptionally cold day to find that the heating thermostat was on the lowest setting and so the house was damp and cold (I suspect this is because no one had stayed recently) and there was a noticeable build up of dust. We also had concerns that there had been, or were, mice, as we found some suspicious droppings under the kitchen sink. However we are no experts in this field and have not received any feedback from owners on this matter. We may be wrong. Either way it slightly disturbed me, particularly when travelling with a young child.

I can see how this could be a very nice place to rent, but on this occasion it just felt that it needed a little bit more love out of season.

“Highly recommended! Lovely house, well equipped, and very welcoming!”

We spent a wonderful three days in this lovely house on a freezing December weekend. Bright, modern and very comfortable, with a a well equipped kitchen, wifi and entertainment centre. Central heating spot on! Interesting walks around Rye and Winchelsea, and surprisingly good public transport links for anyone without a car.

What a surprise after so many poor quality rentals.

Thank you so much!

“Bright, spacious and well-equipped”
Reviewed 30 July 2012 for a stay in July 2012

My husband and I stayed at Long Beach this summer with our children (ages 5 and 7) and we all loved it. From the moment you walk in, the spacious light filled interior is very welcoming. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay, including: a welcome basket with bread, jam and milk; a combination washer / dryer (invaluable when you are traveling with young children!); two bathrooms (one full bathroom upstairs and what we call a powder room in North America on the main floor - i.e. toilet and sink); beach chairs and toys; a Wii (which the kids loved); fast and reliable wi-fi; etc., etc.

In terms of location, there is a beautiful sandy beach about a 10 minute walk away - for those with mobility challenges, you may want to access the beach through the public parking lot, so that you can avoid the tall climb over the sand dunes. Using Long Beach as a base, we did several day trips to places like Battle Abby (location of the 1066 Battle of Hastings), and the castles at Dover, Bodiam, and Pevensey.

The restaurants that we saw in Camber (where Long Beach is located) didn't seem too kid-friendly (e.g. one had prominent signs talking about how children had to be supervised at all times, etc.; and another one wouldn't accept children after 7pm). However, there were plenty of places to eat in Rye, which is an easy less than 10 minute drive from Long Beach - our kids loved the Simply Italian restaurant in Rye. And, the kitchen at Long Beach is very well equipped, if you want to make your own meals.
