The caravan accommodation is the only thing bringing this review up to an average rating. Our caravan was lovely and comfy though no heating in the bedrooms which wasn't great with young kids.
The entertainment area is cramped and dingey and the staff show favouritism to the kids who have been at the daytime activities, which we didn't do as we were off exploring the area. The food in the restaurant was good and there was plenty of room and tables.

The swimming pool changing rooms were abismal - tiny and absolutely filthy and just really horrible to use. The pool itself was fine. I had heard they were being refurbished so this may now be the case. I really hope so.

Room Tip: away from the road and tthe entertainment area

Hi Melanitsa7328

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review.

I was pleased to read that you were pleased with your allocated caravan. With regards to the heating in your accommodation unfortunately not all grades of Holiday homes are guaranteed heating in the bedrooms.

I was surprised to read that you found the swimming pool changing rooms to be filthy. They are deep cleaned twice a day and spot cleaned as and when necessary. I sincerely hope that the pool manager swiftly rectified any issues if you reported them. Our swimming pool and changing facilities were refurbished last year,

Thank you again for your feedback,

Best Wishes
Carrie

Visited Seton Sands for the Easter weekend, we have tried several havens and sadly this was the only one where we left disappointed.
Check in was easy and quick and staff very helpful. Our caravan was lovely and big and in great condition HOWEVER when we arrived I had to clean the kitchen myself as if had been left absolutely disgusting. Even the fridge was vile.
We noticed we had no cooking utensils and a bulb was out so we reported this to reception, took 10 minutes for the bulb to be replaced which was grey but took 6 hours for the cooking utensils to arrive, with a small child who was starving this was ridiculous. We rang 4 times as well as a visit to reception and each time we were told a job had not been raised and they would do so, this put a massive downer on our break as it was just a waste of a day waiting around for them.
The entertainment venue is no where near big enough for the amount of people who visit seton sands, it was very cramped and crowded. Although it was cramped the visiting acts and funstars were fab and there was lots on for children. We found the arcade had the same problem with being far to small.
The swimming pool and restaurant were great, you could tell these had been refurbished recently. Food was absolutely lovely in the restaurant too. The children’s park was good but got really busy.
Sadly we would not return to seton sands.

Hi Rachel C

Thanks for leaving us a review.

I am so sorry that your holiday home was not cleaned to our high standards and that you had to clean the kitchen and wait 6 hours for the missing cooking utensils to arrive. This is unacceptable and I apologise for this and I will personally pass over your feedback to the accommodation manager

Despite this, I'm so pleased you enjoyed the entertamiemnt with the funstars and that you found lots to do with the children.

Sorry we won't get to see you again although we wish you well for the future.

Best Wishes
Carrie

Firstly I'll start with the positives as there are a few.. the pool is clearly brand new and its lovely and warm. The changing rooms are new and are very clean and are not too hot so it wasn't the usual sweaty stressful experience it can be when you have small kids with you... LOL The staff on reception are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is nice and that looks to have been refurbished too. The kids park was nice as was the outdoor football pitch. You can get a bus from right outside the entrance into Edinburgh, which takes about 1 hour. A family return day pass is only £8.50.

Now for the stuff that's not so good....

The park is clearly poorly run, most of the card payments point were not working during our stay. there was a lot of dog poo on foot paths. The walk around the golf course advertised as the 'trail walk' is not as you would imagine, its basically a walk round a muddy path at the side of a small field with some small wooden climbing obstacles, the majority of which are broken.
There are some very old shabby looking caravans on the site bringing the whole look of the park down. The showbar is in need a really good refresh and don't even bother going in the toilets in there, they are disgusting... even when the show bar first opens the toilets are filthy and stink.
The Reception area is again very old and tired looking and again the card payment machines were not working. The entertainment passes are very expensive £60 for 3 days for a family of 3 (we payed £60 for a whole week at Hafan Y Mor) - this is basically just to use the swimming pool as cards are not checked to enter the showbar etc The only other time they would be checked is if you win the bingo - you don't get your winnings if you don't have a pass...
The change machines in the arcade were either broken or empty every time we went into the arcade - the staff had to keep opening the machines up..
The park claims to be in the 'rugged scottish countryside"!!! it is not. It's just off a main road and is right next to a large local authority (council) housing estate.
The fish and chips from 'cooks fish and chip shop' were ok but for £3.90 for a small chips and gravy, were we literally got 15 chips, isn't recommended. The staff were miserable too and looked really stressed out but the chippy was pretty empty.. Several people were actually returning their food as we left the chip shop.. Just to add - the onsite cooks chippy's at other Haven sites are really good!!
There's no real security when accessing the site (as at other Haven sites) other than a man in a hut that's just sat watching TV letting anyone in without checking passes etc.
There is a severe shortage of staff in the restaurant, we only ever saw one person behind the bar and we waited no less then 10 minutes to have our order taken each time, everyone literally forms a queue across the restaurant.

What I would say is that we have enjoyed Haven short breaks as a family for a few years now. All of them bar this one has left us feeling like we would return. Unfortunately, we wouldn't return to Seton Sands and wouldn't recommend it either - if your thinking of booking with Haven I'd recommend you choose a different site...

Room Tip: Caravans further away from the beach and towards the golf course were in nicer surroundings.

Hi

Thanks for the review although it's so disappointing that we didn't meet your holiday expectations on this occasion.

I really am saddened to hear you feel as though the standard of your holiday this year has dropped in comparison to other Haven parks. I have made note of all your feedback and this has been passed onto our management team.

I can confirm the entertainment passes are not only for the swimming pool and the bingo you do need them if you wish to enter the complex. During the evenings our security team will do random checks on the passes and therefore not everyone will be asked.

Off the Park we're in such an ideal location for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland I am sorry that you never got to experience this. I only wish you had visited us in reception we could have recommended some scenic beauty spots for you to visit in the local area.

It’s unfortunate to hear that you won't be returning but we hope you'll continue to enjoy our other Parks in the future!

Best Wishes
Carrie

Upon arrival the friendly staff welcomed my family and I, making sure we had all that we needed included park info and safety advice.
The caravan was beautifully clean with made beds and all appliances well maintained. The van was well equipped with crockery and utensils, pots and pans. The van also had smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms and safety advice for appliances such as boiler, shower and gas fire.
The shower was a little on the cold side and the heaters in the bedrooms don't really provide much heat but there was plenty of extra duvets and pillows to keep away the chill.
My 6ft teenager opted to sleep on the sofa after the first night as the single beds were too small for him!

Good parking outside the van and an excellent bus service into Edinburgh from right outside the park with single fares from £1.70 and a family day ticket for £8.50 (2 adults and 2 children i think).
The mini market is well stocked with essentials and not overly priced with friendly staff.
A coop not too far and just in Prestonpans is a good Lidl, decent chinese take away and bakery.
We loved our stay at Seton Sands amd hope to return later in the year.
